Hello Folks,

I own 2015 Acer Aspire F5-571T laptop computer. The system was fairly slow after use of 1 year or so and started shutting down randomly hence I being well versed with computer repairs started with changing a few things to single out what might be the issue :

In the last 3 years I have changed the following :

-Laptop Fan in 2017

-RAM ( Upgraded to 16 GB with the same DDR3L) did twice once in 2019 and now Aug 2020

-Cleaned Thermal paste and applied new coat of it on 20th Aug 2020

-Upgraded the BIOS on 21st Aug to 1.37 version

However nothing has worked out and it shuts down and the temperature is generally 58 degrees Celsius. I have seen it shuts down when the processor is being used more

If someone has had through the same situation can you please help me understand what else can be done or is it now end of life for this laptop?

Also do you think a Targus laptop cooling pad can help?

Any suggestion would be welcomed!

Go to the elevated command prompt.  Enter 'powercfg /batteryreport'. Then return to the desktop. Open file explorer. Then search for' battery-report.html' in the c:\windows\system32\ sub-folder. Double-click to open it in the browser. Compare battery's design capacity with its full charge capacity. Post screenshot of beginning of report if possible. Jack E/NJ

    Hello JackE,

Thanks a lot for taking time to respond. I was able to generate the energy report though not from system32 as It kept showing an Error. However I was able to do it from Windows directory. I have created a PDF of the same and attached here with. Let me know your thoughts about it.

Also I have attached the error message that I got when I did it through System32.

I did a user benchmark test as well, not sure how true they are not but I am attaching the file as well if that helps.

I again appreciate your time, thanks a lot will be looking forward to hear from you soon.

    Warm Regards,

The battery seems OK. The error message was due to a space needed between 'powercfg' & '/batteryreport'.   :)  Random shutdowns are sometimes associated with a spring-loaded normally-off mainboard safety switch that cuts all power to the mainboard when the base cover is removed or misaligned with the switch.  While I don't see a switch on mainboard specsheet for this model, it still might be present. Usually located around the periphery of the RAM sockets. The fix is usually taping spacers on the switch or the base cover so that the cover presses harder against the switch to keep it in the on state. Sometimes simply snugging up the base cover screws is enough to keep it on. Jack E/NJ
