Experiencing keys not working when attempting to log in for about 4 weeks. Been tolerating it till the issue began to affect other keys. At first, it appeared the right Shift key was not working and could circumvent by using the left shift key for the password. Then once in the following keys failed to work  G H V B as well as right shift key function.  Repeated keystrokes did not change the ability to function then all at once I would see several strikes like - GGGGGG HH GGG in the fields I was trying to populate. After I left the laptop on for at least 15 minutes the keyboard appeared to "wake up" and all keys were functional.

Today the backspace key, as well as the right shift, failed together.  So a little experiment, the keys did not work any other program, BUT when I opened software programs and closed them all the keys worked just fine. Now when I opened this website to type the keys are all functioning except for the intermittent loss of the Backspace function. It seems to be a driver issue, but ....

I have already uninstalled and reinstalled the KB drivers, the laptop has not been dropped, the outer housing is pristine w/o s/s of defect and the only upgrade has been from 8g memory to 32g.  No other adverse functioning can be identified.  I have tried the tried and true remove battery and hold on the power button as well. To take a step further I had even reinstalled the factory ram without change.   The only other thing I have not tried is trying an external keyboard when this occurs.

Any ideas? This is becoming really frustrating as my login id is dependent on the keyboard functioning properly and of course for the overall performance of the system.

    Hi,
Go to Device Manager, expand Keyboards, right-click Standard PS/2 keyboard and click Properties, move to Driver tab and uninstall the driver, reboot and let Windows install the driver.

unfortunately that did not work.  i am down to using the virtual keyboard now. the keys now involved are the backspace and main 'enter' key. the last option is a windows reinstall
