Helio 300 continuously switching between battery status and plug-in charging at 81% battery level

Hi,

I have a Helio 300 G3-571, and it is continuously switching between the status of battery and plug-in charging at 81% battery level (back and forth within ~ 1 minute interval). I tried to drain the battery low and charge it up. It works fine until the battery reaches 80% and then starts to switching back and forth again. Also tried battery reset and it did not work.

It happened after I opened the back cover to clean dust and re-apply thermal paste (yes, I disconnected battery first). Another interesting fact is that, if I turn on the laptop without the back cover, it works fine (no more switching back and forth), and it shows that it is plugged in (but it stays at 81% without charging up).

Is there anything I did not set correctly? For example, I heard that there is some kind of pressure sensor which detects whether the back cover is installed properly, but I could not find any more info about it.

Appreciate any suggestions.

  • On the battery, do you check for wear with the hwinfo64 program? Also, have you tried to calibrate the battery? On the button, it is installed next to the ram, see:

@egydiocoelho Thanks for the answer. Can you provide a little bit more instruction on how to use the button next to the RAM? Just press the button and let it re-calibrate the battery, or need to drain the battery before doing so, or else?
  • Place a few layers of electrical tape over this button:

Then check if the battery is charged.

@egydiocoelho  checked battery wear using hwinfo64 and it is only 5.7%. tried to calibrate the battery and it doesnt work (still constantly switching between charge and uncharge). Also placed couple layers of electrical tape on the button u showed above and the issue is still the same. However, if I don't put on the memory slot cover, there is no charging and uncharging, the battery level just remains uncharged. any other suggestions? thanks.
