Acer Aspire A315-41 Power button no longer works

Laptop is no longer under warranty and I do not have the money during the pandemic to change the keyboard. Like many others here with this problem, I can start the laptop using any key except the power button. I can also continue to use the laptop on by keeping any key pressed down with a weight or taped down. My question is this. Given I have no money currently to replace keyboard, can I continue to use the laptop with another key taped or pressed down or will this damage my laptop. I need my laptop for University, virtual classes. I'm rapidly falling behind with my courses.
Thanks. P.S. I tried all the suggestions on this forum to fix it myself, none worked.

Hi. My post was about the fact that I don't have a warranty. Laptop broke 3 months after 1 year. Also, sorry but i'm not skilled to do that kind of technical repairs.

Is there anyone from Acer Technical support that can help me. Any users who were able to fix this without replacing keyboard. Again, will it damage my laptop if i use it with another key pressed down with a weight or taped down? I have no money for the replacement now and can't find part time job because of pandemic.

I found a possible solution but i have one important question. A user posted this solution on youtube.
    1. Attach external USB KB to laptop.
    2. Power on using CTRL key (for example, as Power button no longer works)
    3. Holding that key to keep laptop on, go into Device Manager and disable the internal KB.
At this point you can release the CTRL key and the laptop will stay powered on.

    My question:
If the laptop is powered off with the internal KB disabled in Windows, will it be possible to power back on given you need the internal keyboard power on button? Would window restore the internal KB if you unplugged the external KB?
  • it is possible that only the keyboard connector is loose, causing bad contact. Can you take the laptop apart and check?

My Acer Aspire A515-51G was shutting down abruptly when on battery power for the past 2 days. I did a battery reset using the pin-hole which didn't solve the issue and laptop won't power on. Then I put some insulation tape on that rectangular block that presses against a switch near the RAM slot, closed the compartment and voila... my laptop powered up on battery power and ran a full 4-5 hrs without any issue before I had to put it to charge.
