I had some trouble with my Webcam working sometimes and sometimes not.  I was able to fix it with uninstalling the driver and rebooting and it found, reinstalled and then worked for a week or two.  Now it's stopped completely and no longer detected at all.  I've also noticed the keyboard backlight has also stopped working.   Not sure why/if they could be related.

I've tried all the usual windows 10 cameras and privacy settings - so please don't suggest those.  Basically the camera no longer exists as far as the laptop is concerned.  It seems to me like a connection issue.

Any ideas?

Camera and microphone are in the display side of the laptop, motherboard in the other. Perhaps a cabling issue where it's hinged? Both the camera and the two microphones are on the same little card, with a cable that runs across the top then down the side, then beside the hinge to the motherboard. If the cable is good then it likely is that camera module failing.

Strangely it came back today, after days of not detecting hardware it just reinstalled itself and is now working again. I'll continue to monitor it for now.

Hi There - I've just started experiencing the same issue with my swift 5. The backlight and camera went today. Rebooting it the camera has come back but the backlight still hasn't. Any ideas? Should I leave the laptop shut for a little while?

    Thanks!

@iliketrainz98 you should start a new thread for yours if the suggestions in this thread haven't helped. Include the exact model number (something like SF513-62G-xxxx), the symptoms you are seeing and the steps you have tried so far.
