Hello.
A week ago I was playing an suddenly the laptop turned off. I tried to turn it on right away but it didn't respond. Afterwards IpI the power button again and it turned on again. However it didn't appear to be plugged in to the ac, though it was. I figured that the charger was too hot and let everything cool for 30. Everything went back to normal.

Today the laptop turned off again, while I was playing. I let it cool for 30 minutes, and then turned it on again. I see the laptop appears plugged in and went to kitchen. When I came back I noticed the charge is at 35% and falling quickly. I start searching the web for some guidance but it drops to zero and then turned off (all the time it was plugged in to the ac).

The laptop doesn't turn on again.

I was able to generate a battery report before it died. I know this has to be checked by a technician, but I want to at least know some opinions and see if there's some hope. I don't know if the battery is the problem, or the charger, or the motherboard.
If the battery is the problem, can the laptop work without it while I find a replacement? Would I be able to play games without a battery?

Some additional data:

The model is ph315-51-78

I bought this laptop in july 2019. During this covid-19 pandemic I've been using the laptop for 10 hours, 2 to 3 h gaming per day.

carki the laptop should still power on even if the battery is faulty which makes me to believe the best case scenario its your adapter (which u can test with a voltmeter if youre able to check if its outputting the correct voltage ) or worst case scenario the mobo itself which would need replacing and if out of warranty not really worth it too expensive its the price of a new one i really suggest u to contact acer support asap and check your warranty

carki you should check your battery wear with either hwinfo or battery bar pro if more than 20% its faulty consider replacing or try to recalibrating to see if it improves or not ano no you cant play games without the battery and the laptop will never work properly without a good battery as the battery main purpose its to aid the adapter with more power when this one cannot provide enough to the cpu/gpu an yes according to your battery report your battery its more than 20% wear (39.1552 its 20% of the designed capacity) you have 34.580 i suggest you to get a replacement asap you should contact acer support directly as your warranty might had been extended because of the pandemic and you might even still be on warranty if this is the case they would diagnose it and fix it for you another advice never use it on battery only if you need to use it for emergency and really light works it was not designed to game on battery at all good luck :)

Here are the part numbers you need to look for you can either try to find it your self or buy it from an acer parts partner near you als you can pm @Kev0806 he will be able to sort you out.

Thank you for answer. I'm unable to make the test you propose, I cannot turn the laptop on anymore, it's dead. What I did was to disconnect the battery, then I pressed the power button for more than a minute and I introduced a straightened clip in a little hole behind the laptop for more than a minute too. I read this is useful for "draining the battery", whatever that means. After all this, I plugged the ac in and try to power the laptop on. No response again. This seems more serious than a dead battery, right? What do you think?

In this type of situations are motherboards repaired or changed?

carki no manufacturer repairs any mobos they always replace with a donor tested and working one as repairing would involve a microelectronics repair engineer and parts needed that would be too expensive and time consuming just to diagnose what exactly as i said if youre still under warranty youre fine nothing to worry  :)

I installed an ssd and a hdd. The laptop is still under warranty. But I don't know if by installing these units the warranty is now voided. Do you know if this voids the warranty?

carki if you dint had to break any warranty stickers/seals no its not voided otherwise yes unfortunately that depends from country to country the policies are different also if still valid try to send everything on stock specs (the main reason i always keep my stock parts after upgrading ssd/ram etc)
