Hello everyone, I need some help.
I installed a second memory (8gb) stick in my Helios 300 but the laptop just doesn't boot up. The keyboard backlight turns on and stays on. The RAM is not faulty. Have checked it with 3 different RAMs.
It seems likely that my second memory slot is bad. I am installing a second memory for the first time after 2-3 years of ownership. Is it possible that it came faulty from the factory? Any thoughts?

    adityarathee96 when installing/upgrading new ram the laptop may reboot itself up to 5 times with black screen as the bios its setting up the new ram timmings have u tried your working sodimm in the other slot is it working as on the first slot if not its most definitely a hardware issue (its a really rare case but might happen) just to make sure try a bios setup defaults with the ram in the working slot and a battery powerdrain and swap it to the second just to see what happens if indeed its a hardware issue i suppose its way out of warranty and it would need a new mobo replacement that alone would cost more than a complete new laptop but good luck

    It's not rebooting. Just the keyboard backlight is on and there's nothing on the screen. I've left it like that for more than 10 mins and still no luck.

    Tried that. The laptop doesn't boot if there's a RAM in the second slot. However, when I remove the RAM from the second slot, I can feel that the RAM is heated. So, current is definitely flowing.

    The model is Predator Helios 300 G3-572.
    Yes, I did reset the battery.
  • Do the following:
    a) disassemble the laptop:
    b) disconnect the lithium battery, the cmos rtc battery, the rams memories and then press the power for 60 seconds;
    c) then connect the rams memories first and then connect the rtc battery and the lition battery.

    I just did that in the same order that you mentioned above. No luck :anguished:
  • So there must be some problem with the slot.

    So there must be some problem with the slot.
    @xapim @egydiocoelho
     I have some new info regarding this. I opened my laptop to clean my fans and switched it on while holding the switch near the RAM slots. While the laptop was open and running, I inserted memory in the second slot. Task manager didn't show the increased memory. However, CPU-Z displayed the added memory and correctly showed the info of the RAM inserted in the second slot. I restarted the laptop and it booted. But the same thing with the task manager and CPU-Z.
    After closing up the laptop and switching it on, the same black screen issue has appeared.
    Could there be some problem with the BIOS?

    adityarathee96 definitely if the ram is working fine in the first slot and not the second your slot is faulty im afraid  and if your are out of warranty (which most probably you are) only a mobo replacement and thats too expensive not even worth it better get a new laptop its cheaper and you shoud never ever add any hardware with the laptop on  you can try to update your bios if youre not on the latest version yet and see if that fixes it good luck :)
