My Desk Top Mouse No Longer Captures Pictures With Right-Clicking

It works fine with everything else, but beginning today, nothing happens when I right-click on any  photos, including my own. I use a lot of gifs and jpgs on my blogs and now they don't budge. I realize that some feel that "hot linking" is frowned upon, but I always credit watermarked pictures or don't use them at all. Is there anything I can do about this? I don't have another computer, mouse or keyboard to see where the problem lies. I have a new scanner and am scanning a lot of pictures to my hard drive to be posted on my Facebook page as well as others. I can't even right click my saved pictures to either delete or change the size, etc and it has really impacted my work. It's strange that the mouse functions well otherwise.

Thank you in advance.

What software are you using when you attempt the right click? Does a right click on the Desktop give you the normal context menu? It could be a problem with right click in general, or it could be a problem interacting with the software.

Thanks for the reply. I'm not sure what you mean by software. I use Windows 10 and this is a new, refurbished computer. I search for the photos I'm interested in, using Google search engine and the ones I choose are the photos I try to right-click on. I just got a message telling me that my Windows 10 was about to expire and have never had that happen before. Could that be the problem?

I'm not using Notepad or Note book. Just blogger, Facebook, Wordpress and Hub Pages. I am unable to put pictures on any of these programs.  I used to be able to save gifs and jpgs to my hard drive and then upload them to the sites I listed here. I am fairly certain that it has something to do with Windows 10 and the message I got telling me it was about to expire and that I need a special key. Either that or uninstall and reinstall it, which I am unable to do myself. I have only had this Acer computer for five weeks and I cannot understand why Windows 10 has only lasted this long. Thank you guys for trying to help me, but this is a Windows issue and one with my computer company. You've been very gracious and helpful. Thank you again. It's too much of a coincidence that losing the ability to right-click has happened at the same time as this strange issue with Windows 10.

So, it sounds like you are browsing the web when doing the right click? Are you using the Edge browser that Windows 10 defaults to, or Internet Explorer, or Chrome, or Firefox, or ... ? Many web sites disable right click on their pages to make it so you can't just click and save their images, but most do allow it.

It's a desktop computer and I believe I know what the problem is: This is a defective mouse. I didn't think it could be since I've only had this compute a fairly short while. I tried to empty my recycle with right-clicking and nothing happened. I should have tried that first, but now i'm not really surprised that this project has developed this annoying glitch. In fact, everything involving that part of the mouse is now non-functional. My computer salesman can't be reached until tomorrow (Tuesday August 4th) as this is a civic holiday here. I hope that he can replace it and not charge me, since I'm certain that these products have more than a few months of life before quitting. This is an endlessly long post, but I have to add that last year I was told that my he could build me a desk top computer that would be under $500. The last one he built lasted six years with only one tune-up needed. Now, just a year or so later, a new machine would be around $800, but he had a refurbished one for $500 (plus tax) and I would have to settle for that, as a new one was too expensive.

Along with the malfunctioning mouse, the speakers are crappy and the keyboard is the cheapest one on the market that I had bought six months ago. I think it was around $20. Perhaps this is what I have to settle for. Has anyone on this forum had any of these issues with a refurbished model? I'm hoping there is some kind of warranty, because these things shouldn't be breaking down this soon. I have been using this computer company since 1995, but ever since his partner quit, things haven't been the same. I don't want to have to purchase a new mouse. For one thing, the closest store selling them is miles away across town. Because of Covid-19, most retail outlets are closed down for now. Sorry for this novel-length post.

A lot depends on who does the refurbishing, some vendors just fire up a return to reset it back to factory and don't actually test anything. It's a lot cheaper for them to not put the time into it and in almost all cases there's nothing really wrong with a returned unit.
