Acer ES1-521 (Aspire ES 15) graphics issue

I've just done a clean install of windows 10 (version 2004, build 19041.388) but internet picture (not sound) buffers / freezes constantly.

The mouse is also very erratic.

If I delete the graphics driver (AMD Radeon R4), the mouse and internet streaming works fine but of course on restart the driver reinstalls and the problem returns. I'm told I need to install a prior version of the graphics driver but I can't find one in Acer's downloads.

Can anyone help please?

I can give it a shot, we'll try to prevent Windows from installing the problematic driver by installing one ourselves without network connection and see how it goes.

I'd need to know the current driver Windows installs and the IDs of the card you have. You can get those details from the Device Manager, this would be me for example:

If you have more than just 1 entry under Display adapters do the same for both please.

I see, follow this procedure and we'll see how it goes:
    1. Download the driver package I have uploaded here and extract it somewhere, there'll be two folders "Driver" and "DDU": https://mega.nz/file/8E1XSbYC#cq1MWSywnI3-4xoQj3rPw4hUlLKtfQCWsSDlyE0LqHI
    2. Cut off the Internet access, make sure the machine is not connected throughout the procedure.
    3. Open an administrative PowerShell or CMD and type the following, for example by right clicking the Start Menu, it's in that list:

With that we ensure the next time the device is rebooted it'll go into safe mode.

    4. Now go to Settings and uninstall the graphics drivers you currently have installed. If it tells you to reboot, it might, do it.
    5. You'll appear in Safe Mode, just so we don't forget let's tell Windows the next time it's booting to normal mode as usual. Open another administrative prompt and type the following:

    6. Now, go to that DDU folder and open "Display Driver Uninstaller", do as in the image:

It will clean any remnants of any previous installation of graphic drivers you could have in your system and reboot as usual.

    7. Open the driver folder and double click U0355166.msi, the driver should then be installed. It may take a while.
    8. Reboot for good measure once again (verify the driver was installed before in the Device Manager though), and then you can connect back to the Internet.
With a little bit of luck Windows won't mess with the driver anymore and the problem would be resolved, otherwise we'll see about finding another way.

Half way there! The DDU removed the driver successfully but the U0355166.msi failed to run, giving the message "This package is not compatible with the platform of Microsoft Windows you are running. This application will now abort".
I've now got the Microsoft basic display adaptor showing in Device Manager (mouse is working smoothly but haven't tested streaming as didn't want to risk an auto update).

Oh... what about manually pointing the driver to search in that folder?

Try this (I looked at the IDs and it ought to be supported :scream: ):

Just in case, since those were WDDM 2.7 drivers (because you mentioned Windows 10 2004) I left some WDDM 2.6 drivers here too: https://mega.nz/file/cMkTgTaD#m2cHT3-glj-6xWEvZMLuLNDisN23MwAgeVBdnxSDPgE
