My laptop battery is not charging anymore. According to Windows, the battery is plugged in and charging though it remains at 0 %.

I do not need the battery as I always use my laptop with the AC adaptor plugged in. I want to know if it is safe to use my laptop computer with a battery that won't charge. When it is off, I usually let the AC adaptor plugged in. Hence it still tries to charge the battery.

Is it safe? Is there a risk of overload, temperature increase, or electrical failure?

Do I waste energy when the battery is charging infinitely?

Is it possible to remove the battery  (by disconnecting it from the motherboard) and still use the computer 'normally' with the ac adaptor ? or does the motherboard need to have something connected to work?

I tried the following without any success: uninstalling the drivers in the Device Manager and then did a reboot to reinstall it, pressing for five seconds the battery reset PIN hole.

I could open the laptop to check the "Chassis Intrusion" switch located next to the RAM expansion, remove the CMOS battery to do a BIOS reset, remove the bottom of the case, and disconnect the battery from the motherboard. But I do not want to do it unless it is necessary.
