    Hi NATESANDINESH,
As per your computer model these are the specifications.

SO You can add use the 2 RAM slots by putting 8GB chips in each of them to increase the memory.
You can also use an SSD to enhance the performance.

Meanwhile please try these steps to enhance the speed of your computer when booting and also when using it.

1)Many times computer runs slow because of too many unnecessary programs loading up in the background when we start our computer. So go to Task manager
Check in Task manager > Startup to see what is starting when you first turn on your laptop and that are running in the background. The less programs, except for the ones you that you really need , the better. Also check for non Windows processes that you don't need.If in doubt, just disable them do not delete them.
Then end task for that and restart computer. Check disk usage .

2)Update all drivers in  device manager. Press windows +X, click device manager.
Under device manager if you see any driver with flag, update driver and  install the correct version of that driver for that device.

3)Another way is to increase the virtual memory.Follow these steps

Click the Windows + Pause break

Go to advanced system settings from the options in the left panel.
Now go to performance tab and click on settings.
Under settings, go to the advanced tab again and click on Change for virtual memory.
Un-check  "Automatically manage paging file size for all drives", click .
Choose your drive(c) Enter a custom paging file size that is larger then what your computer is currently set to.Initial/Max size (This value varies, depending on your computer. If you’re not sure what value to use, just enter whatever the number is in the Recommended category.
    Now click SET and OK.
This should also help your computer to run faster .

    4) Delete Temp and prefetch.
    Press Windows +R
    type   prefetch
    Hit Enter.
Now press Control +A to select all.
Shift +delete to delete the all the prefetch. Once all is cleared come out of the page.

    Press Windows +R
    type %temp%
    Hit Enter.
Now press Control +A to select all.
Shift +delete to delete the all the temp files.

All these steps should help in enhancing your computer performance. Please let me know if it helped

So if I add an internal SSD (M.2 2280 256Gb) - I see there is a free slot beneath the cover that hides the RAM - how do I easily move the OS and programs to it?  Thanks

In my opinion, the best way to increase the computer performance is to change from a spinning hard drive to a solid state drive (unless your computer has performance problem due to not enough memory). If possible, get a PCIe 3.0 x4 M.2 NVMe SSD, otherwise a SATA3 SSD will still improve your computer performance significantly. M.2 NVMe SSD is faster than SATA3 SSD.

    Dear MikeNew,
I believe one good way is to restore a previously stored image file, booting from a Win 10 repair disk. For some insights, read my post just dated a few days ago about deleting unwanted OS in UEFI.

@MikeNew the easiest way is dependent on what you started with. You need to have both the old drive and new drive connected at the same time, so if you are going from a small SSD to a large one you'll want an external case to hold the new drive until it has the old drive's image installed, then you pull the old drive and install the new one. If you are upgrading from a HDD to a SSD you just install the SSD and copy the original drive's image over. That copy is called cloning the drive and it moves all data over, recreating partitions as needed, even hidden partitions. Once you have the drive cloned you use the boot menu to choose booting from the SSD and once booted you use Disk Management to wipe the old drive and create one big data partition.

Will the WD Green SATA SSD 240Gb M2.2280 work in my Acer C22-860? How do I enable it?

Thanks for the advice.  I am installing a WD Green SATA SSD 240Gb M2.2280 in my Acer C22-860 and have checked the storage usage on my current C drive and it is 106Gb.  So, am I correct in assuming that I can clone the current C drive to the new SSD then change the BIOS to boot from the new SSD?
Will I need to do anything to get the computer to recognise the new SSD?

Normally speaking, a new M.2 NVMe SSD will not be recognized under "This PC" the first time unless it is formatted. After you put it in, under the Task Bar search field, type "Disk Management", get in there you should see your new M.2 SSD still unallocated. Format it and you can use previously stored image file from your old HDD and restore it to this new SSD (to avoid confusion, disconnect your old HDD prior to the restore process).

Do you know how to create a repair disk and create image file?

    Dear MikeNew,

Sorry that I keep on assuming you use a M.2 NVMe SSD, but you actually will be adding a M.2 SATA SSD. Don't know why you get a M.2 SATA SSD instead of M.2 NVMe SSD as M.2 NVMe SSD is faster.

@ttttt his machine doesn't support an NVMe drive, only SATA on the M.2 slot. @MikeNew yes, when you put the SSD in and fire up your cloning software it should see both drives. The existing drive will have partitions and new one won't. The cloning software *should* be smart enough to both see that the two drives are different sized and to adjust only the C: partition so they match. Some older ones try to adjust all partitions equally and that will not allow the new one to boot. Not a big problem since you can do it over again as often as needed, but it can be a hassle. Once the clone is done and the new partitions look like they should, do the F12 boot menu thing and choose to boot from the SSD. A very few seconds later you should be up and running. Let it run for a while and test to make sure everything is acting normally, then fire up Disk Management and delete all the partitions from the old drive, then create and format it as just one big data partitions. You should be all done and good to go. :)

Be careful - I ordered a SATA interface M.2 internal SSD. I discovered after trying to get it to work, unsuccesfully!, that the interface on mine was in fact PCIe. I have since fitted a 256Gb PCIe SSD and after cloning is working well.

    Dear MikeNew,

So, eventually the M.2 internal SSD you put in is a M.2 PCIe 3.0 SATA SSD (usually has the "B" key connector), is that correct?

Most of the SATA SSDs in M.2 are B+M, not just B by itself.

Can I add use the only one RAM slots by putting 16GB chips in each of them to increase the memory?

Assuming you have the C22-860 model the original post is about, the chipset is either a 7th gen or 8th gen and the memory support is either with 4GB or 8GB modules. You could run the Crucial scanner on it to see if they think a 16GB module will work.
