Hi,
I am trying to install a M2 SSD ina new XC-866 and finding it very hard to disassemble the HDD and DVD enclosure from the main housing to reach the slot which is located below. Would appreciate any guidance on this as I do not want to damage anything while trying to open it.
Thanks!

Yeah, I had to remove CD/DVD drive and the front panel to access the M.2 slot for my TC-885 UA91. Acer just makes it so difficult to do. Don't know how is it different between TC-885 and XC-866. However, there are some videos from Youtube showing how to make hardware  changes for some computers (I saw some for TC-885). My suggestion is going to search your model model from Youtube and see if anything available.

Thanks for your reply. There are no videos or instructions online for the XC-866. However. I did check the TC-885 video. Called up Acer as well but they could not assist with this. It seems to me that have changed the design a bit from the TC-885 thus making removal even harder. I could get the top tabs and middle tab  to disengage but had a hard time with the lower two. They are stubbornly tight.  I tried to take it out at an angle as suggested in the video but it stays tight. The DVD and HDD housing too has a metal lock tab at the bottom on one side. Not sure how to take it out too.

Formwise the XC-866 is pretty close to the other slimline cases Acer has been doing. To get it apart to access the M.2 you need to take the ODD out (one screw at the back and some cables and it slides forward). Once that is gone you can take the front bezel off, then remove the drive bay (5 screws). The rest should be easy, but trying to do it without removing those three chunks would be tough.
