Acer Predator Helios 300 [PH315-52] 64 GB RAM Upgrade?

Hello,
I want to upgrade the RAM of my laptop to 64 GB. However, searches on this forum suggest that the laptop supports 32GB Max. May I know the reason why?
The CPU specs for i7-9750H on Intel's website suggests that the processor supports up to 128GB RAM. We have 2x slots and 32GB SODIMMs are available on the market.
So what is limiting the max memory capacity to 32GB only?

Aniruddh yes the H300's only support 32gb ram max (officially) its not the cpu support in this case its the mobo limited/locked support all bios are locked so unless its a modded bios (which i strongly dont recommend doing neither its allowed to discuss anything about it in this community ) probably it wont support so until someone buys 32gb sodimms and test them theres no way to know if its will support or not and i doubt anyone would take such a risk on a such high priced ram without having sure if it would really work or not but anyway of you are willing to go for it also why would u need 64gb 32 its already too much no one will ever use them in full and its not having 64gb that would make the laptop faster in some rare cases too much unused ram could also cause some bottleneck and decrease the performance but good luck

The reason is - I have 256GB nVME in this laptop and Windows reserves around 30 GB of my SSD memory. If I go ahead with another 16GB stick, how long do I have until Windows starts reserving my NVME again?0

Aniruddh how does it reserve 30gb of your ssd ??? u can setup the windows virtual memory manually adding ram doesnt have anything to do with the windows virtual memory at all the more ram you have the less virtual memory allocated space is needed (i always recommend 10gb if youre setting it up manually to avoid any issues/crashes or just leave it on auto managed) you have to understand the larger the drive is the more gb you loose in space thats a very well known fact for ex 128gb u only get about 116gb usable

As “xapim recommends keep the virtual mem at ‘auto” and don’t worry about anything else, more ram is only helpful if you use certain software like CAD or very demanding ram software. That is how I have my virtual mem and never had any problems.

As you can see, I am not even running all software I need to and all my memory is gone. When I run all software, 29GB of my memory is gone.0 -
Aniruddh so u only have one ram slot in use of 16gb as i said i suggest you to get a ready dual channel set 2x16gb hyperx or vengeance 2666 and forget your stock ram and yo can increase the windows virtual memory manually as i said sacrificing your drive space u really need dual channel to work on developing rendering content creation etc youre having issues because you dont have enough ram u only have 890mb available from your 16gb sodimm do not worry about the page file worry about your ram instead the page file can be increased/decreased automatically windows does it by itself

@xapim Yeah, that is why my original question was - if it is possible to increase RAM to 64 GB? If it is not I will go ahead with another 16GB module. But Acer should understand that restricting RAM capacity from BIOS is not good. You are practically restricting customers of the benefits the product already have.0
-
Aniruddh firstly its not acer or any manufacturers fault these restrictions come from intel themselves and on a modded bios probably who knows (also not allowed to even discuss about it on this community) but i dont think u could do it on on stock bios its only 32gb max (some higher end models support up to 64gb) and should be enough for you anyway (well you could always spend the money on a 32gb sodimm and test it but theres no guarantee that it would even work) also all manufacturers have the bios locked and limited to what intel/microsoft specs demand them to and even intel its restricting the new 10th gen mobile cpus to 2999mhz ram only via microcode its not even a bios restriction anymore they partnered with microsoft to do so and its the best way they have to sink the company even more than what already is and piss off more customers to move to amd as i said for your line of work i recommend u to forget the stock ram and get a dual channel set the lower the cl the better and hyperx its the best u can get whatever decision u take good luck

Aniruddh well intel got beaten by amd ryzen on desktops (the red team) and they seem to be doing everything to also get beaten on laptops lol really bad decisions from whoever is in charge of making them plus the new ryzen 4000 h series beats any intel mobile cpu in almost everything from power consumption to performance so far .
Once you install the new ram the laptop will reboot with black screen prob from 3/5 times to setup the mobo with the correct ram timmings/cl in the bios hidden/locked setting and its all automatic you will be in dual channel you can check it with cpuz

Hey hey hey, i do not know that 32 gb is the max RAM capacity of helios 300 2019. I already check it now and it is officially stated that it only go beyond 32 gb. IM GLAD THAT I DO NOT KNOW THE LIMIT AND I BOUGHT 2 STICKS OF 32 GB RAM AND GUESS WHAT!!! It's working and it's already 6 months since i am using 64 GB RAM. Man! Install a 64 gb RAM and do not let 32 GB get you0

Wow man. I recently purchased 16GB stick, probably look to sell my 16GBx2 DIMMs to a friend and purchase 32GBx2. Are you sure that you did not unlock BIOS?0

Hello,
I have an Acer Predator Helios 300 G3-72-75L9 and an Acer Predator Helios 300 PH315-53-75AX, in both I could install 64GB.
I used a Crucial 32gb Ddr4 2666 Mhz so-dimm (2x32gb) memory kit.

This is my first and last time buying from acer.. you should care more about your customers and the devices you sell! It's not just the RAM thing, they even say if you 1TB SSD it won't work and it does.I don't really know what to say but may God help everyone who buys from acer..2
