Hi there.
My Predator G9-593 started displaying bsods frequently, After trying to repair the system the issue didn't resolve. So I formatted the SSD and installed a fresh copy of Windows 10 however the issue still remains. The issue occurs randomly. Sometimes the laptop crashes immediately after booting and sometimes after 5-10 minutes of usage but it always happens.
Some additional info that might be useful
1. The laptop works in Safe Mode without any problems.
2. When booting into Linux using a flash drive laptop works normally.
3. Tried using a different HDD- the same issue.
4. The minidump states the following: Unexpected_kernel_mode_trap ntoskrnl.exe+3dda20
5. The Bug Check Code is 0x0000007F, caused by parameter 0x00000008
(find the minidump screenshots attached )
6. Memory Diagnostics didn't find any issues.
7. I looked in the Event Manager and there were a lot of errors and warnings. I exported them in CSV format. Please find it attached.

According to this Microsoft Support Topic the problem is following

0x00000008, or Double Fault, indicates that an exception occurs during a call to the handler for a prior exception. Typically, the two exceptions are handled serially. However, there are several exceptions that cannot be handled serially, and in this situation the processor signals a double fault. There are two common causes of a double fault:

  • A kernel stack overflow. This overflow occurs when a guard page is hit, and the kernel tries to push a trap frame. Because there is no stack left, a stack overflow results, causing the double fault. If you think this overview has occurred, use !thread to determine the stack limits, and then use kb (Display Stack Backtrace) with a large parameter (for example, kb 100) to display the full stack.
  • A hardware problem.
I guess if it was a RAM problem then the laptop shouldn't work correctly in Safe Mode or with linux booted from a USB device, right?

How can I fix this? Please help.

Fender90 as you stated you installed a fresh windows and the issue persists i would most probably say the issue its on the hardware somewhere also safe mode only loads the minimum services that  needs to boot and nothing else thats why i will boot without issues and linux its a complete different OS cannot be compared to any windows issues u can try starting by disable the startup services and apps one by one until you find the one thats causing the issues (if any ) its just a shot in the dark at this point windows its a very complex os when it comes to errors  but good luck

You can also run memtest to test the ram for errors and increase the windows virtual memory if you have enough space on the os drive to do so

An UNEXPECTED KERNEL MODE_TRAP is one issue that shows on the BSoD and it's mainly caused by a bad or outdated driver of one of your devices. Updating it should make the problem disappear.

It seems that the problem is caused by my graphic card which is GTX1070. I disabled the device from device manager and the laptop has been running for more than 30 minutes without crashing which is the first time. Previously it only lasted from 1-5 minutes, sometimes even freezing and restarting or just freezing on right on the login screen.

I tried to update the graphic card driver and 2 minutes after the driver was installed my laptop froze and restarted. After that I started getting new BSODs mentioning other reasons. Here are the screenshots

Seems that the first one is related to Nvidia.
I can try to underclock the GPU and see if it helps.
Don't know what else I can do. Is it possible that the GPU is dead?

P.S. I disabled the GTX1700 device from device manager again and the laptop works without crashes, so far so good. Its ironic to have a gaming laptop with disabled GPU driver. It is not more useful that an office laptop now

Here is another dump from a new BSOD. each time the reason is different

I tried to underclock the GPU- no results,
Removed the drivers using DDU and installed the latest one - no result
Deleted the drivers again and downgraded to December 2019 version - no result.

To confirm or exclude HW issue, I suggest to install linux and to install nvidia drivers for linux, then stress the gpu and let us know about the outcome

Unfortunately I was not able to install Linux on the laptop. After properly booting from a USB and installing the OS I got "No Bootable media" message.
I suspect that has something to do with RAID. I tried removing one of the SSDs with the same result.

Anyway I reinstalled Windows and tried installing different Nvidia drivers- older versions, Studio Drivers instead of the Game Ready drivers but the machine kept crashing randomly. Sometimes freezing or throwing a BSOD right after booting, sometimes doing it after several minutes of usage. Anyway right after I disable the GTX 1070 from Display Adapters in device management the laptop works "OK'.

P.S. If it were to be a hardware issue shouldn't the laptop always crash when trying to boot? Also I checked the device management in the Safe Mode and GTX1070 seems to be enabled. I thought that in the Safe Mode it should probably use the standard display adapter and disable the GPU driver but as a matter of fact it is enabled and the laptop works without crashing. That's quite strange, why does it work in the Safe Mode and crashes in the normal mode?..
  • the same problem occurs when reinstalling windows, pressing alt + f10 before the acer logo?

The problem never occurs in Safe Mode. Always when I boot to "normal" Windows. Also after booting in Safe Mode I see that GPU driver is enabled in the Device Manager. But after I boot to the Windows in regular mode the laptop crashes. It ONLY works when I disable GTX1070 from device manager. I cannot understand why the GPU works in Safe Mode but crashes in full Windows.

  • Try uninstalling and deleting the intel and nvidia video card drivers at safe boot:

    Then, perform normal windows startup.

I never had Intel HD 630. I only have GTX 1070. I have reinstalled the drivers, tried different versions, Studio Drivers, even reinstalled Windows- no result

Not sure if this is the right CPU for your model but you do have Intel graphics https://ark.intel.com/content/www/us/en/ark/products/88967/intel-core-i7-6700hq-processor-6m-cache-up-to-3-50-ghz.html

I have i7-7700HQ. I see it should also have HD630 but my laptop never had that driver installed... There is no Intel HD630 drivers available in the Acer driver downloads section. I downloaded the driver from Intel but when tying to install I got a message that the package type is not supported by the CPU

After I disable the GTX1070 device and refresh the device list I see "intel basic display adapter" that's probably the HD630?
Sometimes I even get bsods, which do not collect information and just remain frozen. Also they have some strange symbols although my Windows language is English
