    Hi,
Just leave it alone as long as possible, do not touch any buttons or switch off, this happened to another member but it was a different model, please read this thread:https://community.acer.com/en/discussion/562246/stuck-on-bios-update#latest

It's been more than 40 minutes now.
And I'll leave it, since I cant do anything anyways.
    Thanks

Yes, that's correct, you need to be patient, the other member waited for more than an hour but it came back to life after that in the thread I have posted earlier.

It's been over 2 hours, is there a way to force shutdown/reboot the system?

Yup bios updates are always risky only update if its to solve any issues that the update notes on acer support state they solve apart from that leave it as it is if its all working fine dont try to break it that my philosophy :)

The windows button stopped working. After looking for a solution online, couple of threads suggested updating the bios.
Which did nothing to fix my original problem

And it's not the disable the touchpad button. Which I use frequently while gaming.

Go to Device Manager, expand Keyboards, right-click Standard PS/2 keyboard and select Properties, move to the driver tab and uninstall the driver, reboot and let Windows install the driver.

    Thanks.
I did exactly what you suggested, but it's still not working

Try another battery reset, after completing leave the laptop to rest for 15-20 Mins, then reconnect AC adapter and fully charge the battery and see whether it helps.

  • I also recommend that you access the bios, press the f9 key to restore it and then press f10 to save and exit. It is important that you do this, to correct some bugs.

No, it is disabling the touchpad. Everything is working properly except for the windows button.

The problem started while gaming, the windows button would get stuck (not physically) meaning if I press "W" or any other button, it reacts as if I'm holding down the windows button with it. So I would restart the laptop and it would go back to normal, this happened about 3 times before it stopped working completely.
