I have been using Acer Aspire A515-51G for over a year now and it's warranty is already expired on March 2020.

The power button is not working and to boot up the laptop I have to keep pressing any other keys, as long as I left the key - the laptop automatically shut down.

It happened before as well (on 23rd March) due to coronavirus I had put it aside for one month.

But on 30th I tried again and its started normally (although I had to reset my PC).

Now, on 4th June, it's again happended and I'm still not able to fix it.

I can wait for another 1 month to see if it start working again but I have a website on WordPress and working through laptop helps me do SEO and all other marketing stuff that cannot be done with a low end smartphone device.

Also, I have been making an Android app and all codes and stuff are in laptop - don't have backup.

Please help me! -- Indirectly the problem is costing me money and wasting my time.

Should have bought Mac instead of this *****.

Remove the charger. Press and hold a paperclip into the battery reset pinhole on the bottom of the laptop. Then while still holding the paperclip, press and hold the power button for 30 seconds. Then plug the charger back in. Wait for the charge LED to turn blue. Then try to turn the machine back on normally. Jack E/NJ

It's not working either. Any other suggestions?

If there's no sign of life pressing the power button, then the safety interlock switch has probably been (in)activated. It's a spring-loaded switch that the back cover must press against to keep power to the mainboard. If the back cover is removed or doesn't press hard enough against the switch, the laptop won't turn on. I suggest first trying to tighten all the screws around the back cover. If this doesn't work the cover must be removed to tape a spacer on the cover or switch so the cover presses harder against the switch. The switch is located near the memory module slots. Jack E/NJ

If that's the case why does laptop start booting up when pressing another key except the power button?

    Anyhow,

Can you share a video or an image for assistance? It will be more helpful.

You're probably simply putting more pressure on the interlock switch to keep it on by pressing the keyboard. The first thing you should try to do is tighten the screws on the base cover. Did you do this yet?  Shouldn't need a video for this. Jack E/NJ

All screws are already tightened since I got the laptop. Couldn't tight much more.

I have an Acer aspire A 515, I bought it like 1 year ago, like 6 months ago my laptop started to turn on when I wanted to, I had to press the power button for 5 to 15 seconds then it just started, at the rate that the time was no longer 15 seconds but from 30s to 1 minute, and I already started to worry, since the charging light blinks when charging, maybe they have some solution for me, help me please.

The normally-off safety switch SWG1 is the one that usually causes the problem you describe when the base cover doesn't press hard enough against. The normally-on reset switch SWG2 in line with the reset pinhole sometimes gets stuck in the off position if it's been recently used to reset the system---flicking SWG2 through the pinhole with a fine stiff wire or paperclip sometimes will release it to the on position.  Jack E/NJ

You have a different issue with blinking orange charging light. This means the batte is in a seriously low state of charge and may need to be replaced. Please start your own thread as this seems to be a different issue than in this thread. Jack E/NJ
