I have an Acer Aspire F15 laptop.  I have decided to use an ethernet cable to have a wired connection to the Internet mainly for security reasons.  How can i tell if my connection is wired and NOT wifi?

If you have a cable going to your router, it's wired. No direct physical connection from computer to router, wifi.

Right click on the right side of your taskbar at > Internet access > open Network & Internet Settings > and there you will see to what protocol you are connected to > If you want to see details of your connection click > "Hardware properties" simple.

Thank you StevenGen.  It does show ethernet but I have a follow-up question.  Does that then mean that it is not possible for bad actors to access my computer via wifi?

As long as you have a password on your modem and the laptop you should be safe. make sure that you assign a secure password onto your modem e.g. go into its settings and change the default password (as most modems have a very generic password) like ID = admin and Password = admin set from the manufacturer. make sure that you change that passwords asap so that you are safe from hackers, the same applies to your Acer Aspire F15 laptop Internet access.
