I have installed a new Samsung EVO 970 M.2 SSD in my Predator PH717-71 laptop but when i try to install the driver it says that i have not installed a NVMe drive. The laptop do register the drive in BIOS and also after running disk manager has shown my drive in MY PC with a dedicated drive letter. The driver assigned to it in default is the Windows driver that does not work with Samsung Magician.

Aside from Samsung Magician software, does the SSD seem to work OK in FileExplore? Does DeviceManager have any red or yellow warnings? Jack E/NJ

    Hi Jack,
Yes. Drive shows working 100% in file explorer and also no issues with device manager. I do believe the issue is that Windows auto assign the windows driver to it and once I try to uninstall and then install the EVO driver it says that I do not have a NVMe drive installed. then Windows goes and auto assign their driver again!

Well, yes, that's what Windows is supposed to do when you simply want to add another drive. If however you want to try to migrate Windows to and then boot from the EVO, then that's another not-quite-so-simple matter. What are you trying to do? Jack E/NJ

Installed the NVMe M.2 EVO 970 drive for fast storage/ reading of games and UHD images. I think I would rather stay with it they way it is now! I can mirror windows onto it but no need to do so. I do have another 1tb SSD 2.5" drive installed for data! Thx for trying.. Cheers bud!

Your drive seems to be working properly without magician software. I believe your mainboard natively supports 2-lane NVME speeds. If you still want to run magician anyway, have you tried downloading and installing the latest magician version or checked the driver installation instructions? https://www.samsung.com/semiconductor/minisite/ssd/download/tools/
