Battery won't charge to 100% (new battery)

I got a new battery for my E1-531, however, it won't charge past 82%.

I have tried calibration a couple of times, but given it doesn't charge to 100% the calibration cycle isn't recognised.

I have also tried a battery reset (remove the battery, unplug for a while).

I have updated the bios too.

Does anyone have something else to try? Given I can't get a calibration cycle completed the battery % and life remaining isn't reliable.

    Try uninstalling the battery drivers in device manager and restart the device. Post that share the result here..

    Thanks Rudy. Yes, I have tried that too but still the same problem.

    The battery light on the front also flashes orange at some points (but is solid orange at the other times). I noticed that via a battery monitoring app it charges at ~700 w for a while until 82% (max), then starts to waver between drawing off the battery completely (i.e. as though no AC plugged in) then only a few watts. But still doesn't go above 82%.

    Is there an Acer specific battery management program?

    Thanks Rudy.

    I see there is a Windows 8 bios version (i.e. a special version for those running windows 8). I only upgrade to the latest version before those versions, as I am windows 10. Do you think those later version are compatible with win10?

  • Does the new battery have the same voltage as the old one?

    Thanks Rudy, I am running Win10 already, but I was asking if the Win8 UEFI bios is compatible with Win10? It is a later version bios and it might have some fixes for this battery issue,

    I am currently on BIOS 1.13

    I assume so, but I don't have the original battery anymore (traded in for this new battery).

    It is shown in the battery info as a Panasonic Li-ion 4000ma sitting at 12.326 v (82% charge).
  • OK! Try uninstalling the AC adapter and battery drivers in the device manager, and then turn off the notebook. Then do a power reset like this:
    a) turn off the notebook and disconnect the lithium battery;
    b) then, press the power for 60 seconds.
