Hi there,
it´s my first post here. I hope this is the right place for "Bug-Reports".
Today, my Acer Nitro 5 AN515-42 got an UEFI-Update rolled out through Windows Update -> Update to Version 1.17
After the Update, the behavior of the internal touchpad changed, and the "gestures" (e.g. 2 fingers for scrolling) doesn´t function anymore.
First, I thought it was only a setting in UEFI, but there is no option.
After a downgrade to Version 1.16, the touchpad started function as usual.

here are some screenshots from Windows 10 Device Manager. You can see, that in Version 1.17, the hardware is detected differently (in Version 1.17 there is only a "PS/2-Device")

This is UEFI-Version 1.16 (normal function):

Version 1.17 (touchpad not function normally):

I have to say, that i´m on Windows 10 Insider Preview (Version 2004 / Build 19613.1000), because of this, I may get some sort of "Beta Firmware", too, but that´s only a guess...
The Acer Support site still shows Version 1.16 as newest firmware for the AN515-42.

Sorry for my bad english, my main language is german  ;)

Thanks for the help

Most probably this is a beta version from the Windows update, please report the bug to the Acer Support and to Windows support.

    Hi,

The new firmware is not a beta, the same occured by the one on the Support site. The Acer just modified a well-functioning method to a chaotic one.

After you install the v1.17 firmware and reboot, you should select the Elan driver for the PS/2-Device via Manual driver update (tick off compatible drivers) in Device Manager. Restart and enter in Bios, go to Main and press 'Crtl+S'. Now you have a menu point for Touchpad where you can select Advanced mode.

I hope this would be help for you and others.
