Hey guys,
I am aware that this problem might have already been solved but I'm still going to ask anyway because the problem I have is very odd. Basically what's happening is since I have online classes (coronavirus) I'm using my laptop for class work for at least 9 hours a day and what's happening is (this has happened multiple times) at around 10pm, school starts at 8, the fans will start spinning like crazy even thought temps on the cpu never go over 52c and temps on the gpu are always below 50c. Normally what I do is I'll just click on the cool boost option to slow the fans down and then click it again and it does the trick but I think something else might be the problem like a broken sensor or something. As for gaming, Gta V on high settings at 60fps never goes over 60c and Cod has the temps going over 60 but under 70. While working the temps are in the mid 40s to low 50s. My model is the NITRO 5(AN515-54-7126) but it came with 8gb of ram instead of 4. Does anyone know what the problem might be or how I can fix it, its really making me worried as this is my first proper gaming laptop. Thanks :)

I turn off cool-boost when no gaming and don`t have such problem, but I have notice similar behavior when cool-boost is on.

Thanks for the reply but what I'm saying is I only use cool boost as a way to slow the fans down which only involves cool boost being on for 2 seconds. Anyone else have any suggestions?
  • Does the same problem occur when uninstalling nitro sense and acer quick access? Both programs enable and disable coolboost. Also, try turning off the notebook and pressing the power for 12 seconds to reset the battery.

Thanks for the reply, since posting the question above, the fan speed ups have been more frequent , no I haven't tried it with Nitro sense and quick access disabled but wouldn't that stop the fans from running on balanced mode or even running at all? When I turn it on later I'll try reseting the battery but what does that do to fix my problem of you don't mind me asking
  • It would be to check if these programs are interfering with fans. Also try resetting the battery:

Just an update, I'm going to uninstall Nitro sense and quick access and then run it for a day like that, if these applications were the source of the problem will I still be able to reinstall them or not? However if they aren't the source of the problem I will then proceed to reset my battery. If that still doesn't solve it, then there's something seriously wrong with this laptop like maybe a faulty temp sensor or something like that, and my warranty is over so I can't do anything. Might just have to sell it.

Update, uninstalled both Nitro sense and quick access and after 20 mins the fans started speeding up again even though I was only in steam trying to update a game. I still don't  know if I should reset the battery or not. Does anyone else have any other suggestions before I do this? anything is appreciated as I am very desperate for answers now

Update again, Installed Nitro sense and had it open on the side, I opened up origin and immediately saw the cpu temps jump from  (just to literally LOOK at the games I have installed)
47c to 60c and that's where the fans started kicking in and then surprisingly as soon as I closed origin the temp on the cpu went back down to about 47 and the fans went back down to about 2000rpm. Tomorrow I will be sending it to some trusted pc specialists not. too far from my home to see if they can fix it.
  • What did you mean by "closed origins"? In addition, you can now try to reset the battery. If there is no hole to reset the battery, turn off the notebook and press the power for 12 seconds. Also, what is the version of the bios?

Thanks for the reply again, what I meant by "closed origins" is I closed the application. If I do reset the battery, what will it do to solve the problem and how will I know the problem has been solved. Also I thought it was to do with the cpu temps being high but I ran a cpu stress test via Intel xtu and the temps in the cpu were above 60 but the fans weren't going crazy because of it. I don't know what version my bios is but how do I check? I'll reset the battery tomorrow and use it like how I normally do which is from 9am to 3pm as I have online classes. If the problem does persist, I will be sending it to the pc specialists as a last resort. Again, thank you for replying it really helps.

battery reset corrects many problems. if your model does not have a battery reset hole, turn off the notebook and press the power for 12 seconds and then check that the fans work correctly. Check the bios version in the acer care center:
