Aspire M5-583P memory upgrade issue

I currently have 8GB running on this laptop. Windows 10 64bit installed. I wish to MAX out the memory to 12GB. The BIOS is upgraded to v2.3. The Crucial CT102464BF160 8GB memory module I bought to upgrade to 12GB (4GB non removable) cause the M5 to not boot. Display and keyboard backlighting just flashes at intervals. I reinstall the old memory module and all is fine. The memory is module is seated properly. I took some isopropyl to the contacts of the new module just to ensure it was clean. Still does not work. I have poked around for answers and saw one recent response about trying Kingston memory instead. The new module label has 8GB DDRL - 1600 SODIMM 1.35v CL11 on it. on the back it shows 8GB 2RX8 PC3L-14900S.

Anyone have a similar experience ?

Have you checked with cpuz the onboard memory configuration?

Old thread, i know, but just in case, anyone else has this issue, i solved it.

I tried several 8GB memory modules (Samsung, Crucial, Hynix) on my "Acer Aspire V5 573G" and had always the problem that after installation of a module, the keyboard and power LED only flashes and nothing happens. After switching back to the original 4GB, everything was ok.

The problem was: I had to remove the battery cable before switching the RAM module, and plug it back in afterwards.

Thats all, and after i found out, i realized, all 3 different modules were working 😀
