Acer K272HUL - Is it HD10 compatible?

I am running windows 10 (current on updates) and an Nvidia GTX 1060 card (also current on driver) via HDMI connection. The resolution on the monitor is set as 2560 x 1440. The Nvidia controls say the card is capable of doing HDR (HD10) but I cannot enable Windows HD  Color in the display controls. The card will only show 8 bit rather than the 10 bit or 12 bit necessary for HDR. Is this a limitation of the monitor or is it actually VESA DisplayHDR compliant?

Have a ***** load of problems with my ACER K272HUL, after I updated my machine from Windows 8.1 Pro to Windows 10 Pro. The 2560 x 1440 was excellent on windows 8.1 .. I updated my machine to Windows 10 Pro and I have to use 1680 x 1050 just to be able to see to Very Blurry Desk Top ICONS Now. The ACER DRIVERS are NOT compatible with WIN 10.. I Googled ACER Monitor Problems, seems There are a Gazillion Complaints about the Quality of ACER Monitors and ACER Products & Support. I'm just going to get a Good Monitor and Trash this P.O.S. ACER K272HUL

Your problem is not an issue with the monitor, it's with your video drivers. I'm guessing they are set to Microsoft Basic Display Adapter due to issue getting the right Windows 10 drivers for your video card. What graphics card do you have? What computer do you have?

I have a Dell XPS 8920 with an AMD Radeon RX 480 card and the drivers for it are current.

Does Device Manager show the RX 480 under Display Adapters? If you go to Advanced Display Settings, then Display adapter properties for the monitor, then List all modes, what does it display? This should all be handled with PNP and the monitor should be telling the GPU which modes it supports.

It shows multiple options. The one it is set on is 2560 x 1440, True Color, (32 bit), 60 Hertz

Yes, RX 480 is shown as the display adapter and the driver data shows the Feb 28, 2020 date (version 26.20.15019.19000)
