I am currently trying to open my Acer Swift 3 to take a look at upgrade options. I've removed the screws but attempting to remove plate seems difficult.

I believe there are tabs that can be hit to make removing the back plate easier. I managed to pry open the seam a little bit but It was struggling to open and I do not want to risk damaging or bending any components.

Attached is a photo of where I'am currently attempting to pry the seam open (seam highlighted in red). If anyone has experience with trying this advise would be appreciated.

    Hi,
Try not to start prying from the hinge area, use a small prying tool like in the video or an old credit card to start prying from the front side corners like in this video.

Update: To anyone having the same issue as in this thread I was able to follow brummyfan2's advise. After getting some more prying tools its fairly easy to pry from the corners to the back hinge, it'll unclip as you pry. Once open there's an extra SSD slot.

To close it you just have to thoroughly clip it back down. Be sure that the seam is pressed all the way closed, especially near the hinge before putting the screws back. Thanks again for the help, hopefully anyone who's looking to do an upgrade like this finds this post helpful.

That could work, Ill see if I can find a a similar pry tool as using a card has not proven successful. I have been able to pry a little more on both front corners but I used a knife.

I probably need to be more forceful when wedging it in but ll check out my local repair shop and see if the have a more appropriate tool.

    Thanks
