Predator Triton 500 GPU dual fans problem

Hi all,

One of the dual GPU fans for my Predator Triton 500 seem to jam up during high RPM and make a loud noise + mechanical vibration. I think the noise and vibration maybe caused by the motor still spinning but slipping within the blade's hub. I would repeatedly slap the bottom of the laptop to get the fan spinning again. Although I do not see the fan blades actually stop spinning, the air flow does indeed stop when the fan "jams" which is why I am bewildered. You would expect to see the fan blades become stationary when this happens, but it does not (at least not that I can see).

Sometimes this process would repeat itself very frequently, and at other times, it does not happen not at all. I was able to reproduce the problem with high success rate last night, but after I temporarily fixed it (by banging the bottom of the laptop), I do not want to risk reproducing the problem again (in case I can't slap my way out of this one). The question is why does this seem to happen at higher RPMs only and not consistently (each time it happened, the fan was at a high RPM, but I am not saying that every time the fan is at high RPM this happens)? And it happens sometimes if I tilt the laptop a certain way while the fan is running and then if I slap it back into operation while its flat, it may happen again within a few seconds or minutes; the laptop is only half a year old.

I am considering replacing the GPU fans and was wondering where can I buy a replacement or if there is a part number for the fan specifically as I did find CPU fans on ebay etc but nothing for the GPU (dual fan configuration).

Thanks a lot for bearing with my lengthy question in advance!

Regards,
extremeheat

extremeheat if youre on warranty send it back to get your fan replaced if not you can always try to get one (not easy to get aeroblade fans) and replace it unfortunately unlike all other models they dont have the single fan(s) part numbers in the acer SG only for the complete heatsink im assuming that according to the SG probably to replace the fans would require the complete heatsink to be replaced according to them but you can direct pm @Kev0806 he is an acer parts partner and he should be able to say exactly if the single fan replacement part exists or not as this model its a a brand new redesigned with inverted mobo im not really sure

Thank you both @xapim and @Kev0806. I have a carry in warranty and I read it may take up to a week to have the repairs done. Because this is the only work laptop I have, I can't afford for it to be unusable for that long. Would you all rather recommend me to have a non-Acer computer technician replace the fan for me (said technician does on-site repairs)?

From what I can find via our Acer Direct Channels the single fan for this unit does not exist. Having said that the full replacement does, here is a link to where you can purchase the 24.Q50N1.001. https://www.sourceitstore.ca/product/24-q50n1-001/

Please let contact me if you have any questions.

Have you figured it out?  I did not have that issue until couple days ago. I noticed that if I force max fans and pick my laptop up the fan sounds like a jet engine (gpu fan 1 for me). It drops it's rpms by 2k and slowly goes up again. That is super weird. Unfortunately I cannot drop my laptop for warranty service atm cuz of quarantine.

    Hey,

So I did have it serviced at the Acer repair center, if you have warranty, they will send you the shipping label and you can have it shipped to them in your own box via FedEx. FedEx can come pick it up from your residence and you won't have to go out to drop it off anywhere. They replaced the fan module; it took them about 11-12 days to complete the repairs.
