I have a brand new Acer Aspire 5 (515-54G). And there seems to be something in the settings/drivers etc that is preventing me from Chromecast (2.gen). It does not matter if I do tab or desktop, it stars fine, then the image freeze, while the sound continues.
I have attempted just about anything with the wifi, with the chromecast itself, and I have disabled firewalls, anti virus etc, but with no luck. I have updated Windows 10 to everything new, and the PC cannot find anything else to update. I have 2 other laptops her that all chromecast with no issue. From what I can google around it could be related to drivers or graphics card. But I am no computer wizz.
some specs:
  • Intel® Core™ i7-10510U-prosessor
  • Nvidia GeForce MX 250, 2 GB
  • 16 GB DDR4 RAM, 512 GB SSD
Anyone got any ideas of what I can try?

    Hi @Andeloke
    1. Click Start
    2. Type cmd and right-click Command Prompt and click Run as administrator
    3. In the Command Prompt window, type netsh and press Enter
    4. Type interface and press Enter
    5. Type ipv4 and press Enter
    6. Type or copy and paste set subinterface “Wi-Fi” mtu=1458 store=persistent and press Enter
    "Hit Accept if its Helpful"

Go here and check for VGA more recent updates against your Intel and nvidia versions already installed in DeviceManager. https://www.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/support-product/7982?b=1  If still no joy download and try running iobit's DriverBooster freeware to see if it will pick up anything. OK, new update. Now it works. I am not quite sure how, but after a few more restarts it suddenly works. Or maybe I just needed to go away for christmas... and santa brought me something to make it work. So I basically followed the advice above, plus attempted a few other things I found online. So not sure what actually made it work, as it did not work right away...

A very common phenomenon that is technically known as magic by nearly all PC cognoscenti. Congrats. Jack E/NJ

    HI @Tom2019,

I tried your help, but the last line gave me an error "The filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect."

    Any Suggestions?
    Thanks

It could be that your connection is not called "wifi", but something else. Mine was "WiFi"
by typing "netsh interface ipv4 show subinterface"  you can see what it is called on your computer/network

    Hello,

I can confirm that this Acer laptop model doesn't work properly with Chromecast. The solution of changing the mtu does not solve the problem at all.

I cast without problems with another laptop (Asus), with the same Windows 10 version to the same Chromecast device in the same Wi-Fi network, but from the Acer 515, it only sends the first screen, that stays frozen and does not refresh.

Next time, I'll buy from Asus.

    Hello again,

The problem goes away updating the Intel WiFi drivers.

This doesn't happen automatically using Windows Update, or the Acer own update utility.... you have to force it using device manager.
