Flashing bios in an Aspire 5515 without a working monitor
Hello All, I have a ASPIRE 5515 with the so called black screen of death. I upgraded to Windows 10 and it worked well for a few days but now won't post to the LCD at all. I then tried an external monitor and that worked for 1 or 2 reboots but now it won't post to that either. I've gathered that I need to update the bios. It was at version 1. I downloaded the bios file from the support site but there is not a filename.fd in it. It says to update, to update from a dos prompt command line (which I cannot do as a don't have a screen that works).
I've read a few posts about naming the *.fd file very specifically to something and then booting with the FN + Esc + Power and a thumb drive in the laptop to get it to flash the new bios. Can anyone provide more details on how to do this with the 5515 (where I cannot even find a bios download that has a file named like that).
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, ce
