My Asprie 5 (NX.HMPEU.005) laptop came without an OS - not even a recovery partition, just an empty SSD. I proceeded to install Windows 10 booting from a USB drive. First problems started when Windows did not recognize the touchpad, and during installation also the WiFi. I had to resort to using a cable to connect to the internet for the install process.

Once Windows was up and running the Wifi issue was automatically fixed, but the touchpad still did not work.

I finally managed to fix the touchpad issue by:

1)    installing the Serial IO Driver (30.100.1915.1) from https://www.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/support-product/8007?b=1&pn=NX.HMPEU.005

2)    setting the Fn button to “Function key” in BIOS, and

3)    pressing Fn+F7 to enable the touchpad in windows.

I needed all 3 steps to make it work, simply doing 2&3 did not resolve the issue.

As an additional problem, when I woke the laptop from sleep, it would always wake into a BSOD. I finally managed to fix the issue by installing the Intel® Rapid Storage Technology (Intel® RST) Driver (17.8.0.1065) from here: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/29339/Intel-Rapid-Storage-Technology-Intel-RST-User-Interface-and-Driver?product=55005 as well as installing the other utilities on this page SetupRST.exe and SetupOptaneMemory.exe. Note that the IRST driver on the Intel page is a newer version compared to the one provided by Acer on the link under 1) above.

I am not sure if it also contributed to the solution or not, but in an earlier attempt to fix the sleep/wake/BSOD problem, I also installed DriverBooster Free from Iobit, which updated 12 drivers on the laptop including the Intel VGA and NVIDIA drivers. This alone however did not do the trick, only once the IRST driver was updated did the wake BSOD problem go away.

Hope this summary will help others facing the same issue.

Do you have optane card installed in m.2 socket?  Jack E/NJ

How do I check? On the BIOS Information page under the heading "SATA" I can see: Optane without RAID, but I have no idea which socket this is connected to and if this is what you are looking for. I just bought this laptop and haven't opened it (yet). The datasheet that came with the product was not very detailed. Full product model is A514-52G-51A8 - maybe this helps.

You must open the back cover and check if the m.2 socket has the optane card installed. If you installed the OS without an actual physical card being installed, this might cause issues. Jack E/NJ

I have the experiance that with the new Intel i10 CPU's that when you reinstall Windows 10 on a empty SSD  that this gives BSOD's in some ocasions.
For the last 7 years when i sell a new laptop I always empty the SSD or HD and start with a clean OS witch has always gone good. A few months a go a sold 2 new laptops (from Asus) with a intel i10 CPU and I formated the SSD's with the result that when I started the laptop cold I always begin with a BSOD. I thought this was a problem from Asus but when I sold a Acer with a Intel i10 CPU I also had BSO problems and when I placed the originale SSD back wich was not formated I had no BSOD's. There is someting with the new INtel i10 CPU (software wich have this effect) but for now i cant find it.
