In short, I have an Acer AN515-54 and I would like to connect an Oculus Rift S but the laptop does not have a display port. I was wondering if I could just buy the Display Port to USB-C adapter since the laptop does have one. I have heard from Reddit, youtube, and community Acer that this method work but apparently there are different problems like; the correct type of adapter, can I even plug in the USB 3.0 cable from the headset to the laptop since apparently its too slow (I don't really know).

I have an Acer AN515-53 which is slightly worse than your laptop and here is my experience: I have an Oculus Rift (CV1 I think, the original one) it has HDMI and 3 USB 3.0 plugs (2 sensors and headset) I put headset in HDMI and USB 3.0 and both sensors in USB 2.0 it worked out absolutely perfect. I think you should just but the adapter and try it out, do not worry about the speed of the USB ports.
