Well after a number of good years my Acer Veriton M490G-EI5650C - micro tower - Core i5 650 3.2 GHz - 4 GB - 320 GB - motherboard has died. I would like to upgrade the motherboard to something current. Not creating a gaming system just a storage computer with multiple HD's for web design work files and backup. Can a member please recommend a replacement board and processor that will not break the bank. Appreciate any assistance, TY Robert.

    hi,

Your team mounts an Intel H57 Express Chipset, Intel LGA1156 Platform chipset, any bse 1156 board serves as a microATX form factor, perhaps also an ATX, this can be fixed inside the box if it has holes to change the order and to be able to dock it.

    Thanks Ivan.

Sorry for the late reply. I appreciate you response but i am a designer and do not have much understanding about hardware. The dimensions of a new motherboard and if it will fit in the case is what is important to me. It is an Acer micro tower and I know the existing motherboard is a micro-atx. This the Acer forum so any brand suggestions would be a big help i can then take to neweegg. Can i buy anything micro-atx mother board and it will fit in that case?

    Thanks Robert

Micro-ATX defines a form factor, including the mounting hole. Any Micro-ATX motherboard will fit in any Micro-ATX case. Where you might run into trouble is the power supply and it's motherboard connector. Your Veriton uses a standard ATX power supply, so that shouldn't be an issue either since the connector is the standard 24 pin.
