I just bought this laptop 2 weeks ago for 1800€, and the mic doesn't work in any program at all. When I try this headset in any other computer or phones or anywhere, the mic works brilliantly like the amazing headset it is. But every time I plug it in to the Predator, the sound works perfectly, but the mic is not working anywhere. The only sound I hear is when I touch the plug that goes into the computer, then I hear a scratching sound, so some sound is being captured, but not from the mic. I've tried literally everything and tried to find solutions on a million pages, but just nothing works. Have any of you had the same problem? How did you solve it? Literally everything is updated so everything on the computer is up to date.

When I plug the headset in a pop up window comes up where I choose that I have plugged in aa headset (and not speakers, a mic, headphones etc).

Right now the only way for me to use voice chat in games is by choosing "headphones" in the pop up window and then the mic from the internal mic next to the webcam.

What do you think is the problem?

Best regards,
Milena

Your audio GUI controls are in multiple places, type realtek in the search panel (also waves). Try setting the headset mic as your default mic.

Thank you for the answer, but I don't think the computer recognizes that there's a mic at all. I tried to search for Realtek and Waves, but nothing new came up, just the same stuff I've been going through for days now. I have chosen in the settings that it's a headset that is plugged in, but the mic still doesn't work, so this is very confusing, I can't really pin point what the problem is. I will wait for some more answers and see if it helps.

    @Joe9844try these steps

1)Type Sound in Windows Start Seach box > Click Sound > Under Recording tab, right click on an empty space and select, Show disconnected devices and Show disabled devices > Select Microphone and click on Properties and make sure that the microphone is enabled > You may also check if the microphone that you are using is set as default.

    2. Run Hardware & Devices Troubleshooter
Type Troubleshoot in Windows Start Search box > Click Troubleshoot > Click Hardware & Devices > Run the Troubleshooter

    3. Run audio troubleshooting
Type Troublshoot in Windows Start Search box > Troubleshoot > Click Playing Audio > Run the Troubleshooter > Restart once it finishes

    4. Set up microphone
Type microphone in Windows Start Search box > Click Set up a Microphone > Select required type of microphone (for internal mic, select Others) > Follow the onscreen directions to set it up

    Click yes if problem solved

I tried all those things. Nothing works. It's  so frustrating. And WaveMaxx and Realtek is enabled as auto start programs when the computer starts. The settings are set as Headset analog in Realtek Audio Console. And can't do the troubleshoot, because the computer can't even hear any sound from the mic in the first place. The headset is not showing specifically there in the sound control panel, is there maybe a problem that the computer thinks I've plugged in speakers and not a headset? And even if I choose Headset in Audio Console it still doesn't think it's headsets that are plugged in?

And guess what! My basic phone headset works just fine! The type of headset that is just small headphones you put inside the ears and only has a small mic on the line. It has the same plug you put in the computer as the Hyper X headset. So it's as if this computer don't get connected to the mic that is up in the headphones of the Hyper X. So now we know that it has something to do with the mic of the headset that doesn't get connected to the computer. It's a mic that you can put in and take out from the headset.

Why do these small headphones work but not these big ones??

It is most likely the OP accidentally pressed the mute button on her hyperx cloud alpha 2 headset.

Literally nothing else worked except buying an adaptor for 5€ so the 3,5 jack becomes a USB. This LogiLink (in the photo for 5€) worked perfect for me, but then the Waves MaxxAudio didn't work after this - that is the only drawback :/.. So no Waves NX with this solution. The best thing is to get a new headset that really works with this laptop.

I just had this same issue; I believe I solved mine by going to the Realtek audio console and under the Microphone array tab I bumped up the Microphone Boost to +30 dB. Acer support did mention to me that the headset will still register as the Speakers 3 (Realtek (R) Audio) and the Microphone on the headset shows as Microphone Array.

I was them able to type in Speech recognition into the windows search bar and set up speech recognition using my microphone. I then went to the voice recorder App and used it there to just double check that my headset microphone was in fact working.
