What RAM can I upgrade to and how can I do it?

I have an Acer Aspire VX 15 (system info says VX5-591G ?), 8GB RAM, I7-7Gen with NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX graphics card. I'm hoping to increase the ram to 16GB, but I don't know if I can just add 8gb or need to replace it with a 16gb, or even how to know if it's possible to add one.
I'd also consider upgrading the core to maybe an I8 or I9 if that's possible?
Or the graphics card if that is the better option.
Can you please tell me if it's possible to do this at home and the best place to buy these?

    Thank you for that!
    Can you tell me;
    I don't have the general performance that I thought I would. When I play a certain game it tells me I'm using about 80% memory, but I have to use very low - low settings otherwise I get lag and jumpy frames. Is that more likely a RAM issue or is it my graphics card I would be best to upgrade?

    Its is always good to upgrade the ram as it will work in dual channel and will be better performing. You can`t upgrade the graffic card.

    On most games I play, for that matter. It's just the only one I've checked was this game but I always have to have low settings. Intel I7-7Gen HD Graphics 630

    Again cpu and gpu are not upgradeable. Which game are you talking about? Did you launch it with the nvidia gpu?

    Currently it's Mount and Blade 2: Bannerlord.
    I'v also got the earlier M&B's which are much less intensive, Battlfield 5, Kerbal space program, just cause 3, skyrim and most the total war games. None of them have been able to run on much better than low graphics. Even though I really don't have much gaming computer experience or specs knowledge, I really expected this system to perform at least a little better than it ever has. While running Bannerlord, I check my task manager and my memory say's it's running at roughly 80% (37 is roughly where it sits when I'm doing nothing. Shouldn't that mean I can do more or is that not how it works?
    I ran MSI afterburner today during it and that said the game was using roughly 20-30% (either GPU 1 or CPU 1 I've forgotten I'm afraid).
    Yes it launches with the nvidia gpu. There was a short time where it was set to the other but it was atrocious and a quick google had me fix that.
    Am I just over estimating what my computer should be able to do because I don't understand it any better?

    Well updrading the ram will improve fps, but don`t expect miracles.

    Thank you for all your help. I couldn't tell what model ram I had even with Speccy and CPU-Z, so I removed the backing to have a look so I could order a second one. I googled the numbers on the ram but nothing has come up. It's got KN8GB07034720F32F33400. How do I go about getting another to add to the ram?
    I looked into your suggestions from earlier but I've been told I need to get one that is the same model as my current one

    By compatible, you mean that I can just buy the one 8GB and add it to my current one instead of buying two and have it increase my ram to 16GB?
