Hello,

i want to upgrade my video card

Aspire m3970. i7 2600 sandy bridge 6gb ddr3 radeon HD6450 300watt psu.

i am looking for a low power video card that actually 100% works.
i was wondering if someone has tried an Nvidia gtx 1050,1050 ti or 1650 4gb model on a acer ipisb-vr rev 1.01

Thanks

    Hi,

If you work with more modern UEFI bios you can place gtx 1050 graphics, if you only work with legacy bios the maximum would be a gtx 750 ti.

    Psu 400 watts.

    Regards.

Before you do anything, you should upgrade your RAM to DDR3 PC3-14900 with at least 8GB, as the Aspire M3970 can take up to max 16GB (Not to exceed manufacturer supported memory) and an SSD, as these upgrades will assist more to whatever upgrade you will make to your graphics card e.g. a GTX 750Ti which runs at 1 GHz (Around 65% higher clock speed) and has 2 GB GDDR5 (Around 70% higher effective memory clock speed). Also see what PS you have as that could have a bearing on and if you can upgrade to a more power hungry graphics card.

Yes my bios starts in legacy and my Windows 10 is set in legacy mode.

i am also working on the psu upgrade if i have found a decent card.

wich brand of the 750 ti is the best in succeeding because some do not boot

i looked it up and the Nvidia says gtx 750 ti doesnt have a 6 or 8 pin and draws the power true pci slot.
Specs says 60W 300Watt min psu but some brands needs 400 psu ands some with 6 pins.

Did some research and to succeed i need to know the exact model and brand for the 750 ti.
Because of its size my card can go up to 2 slots width and 175 mm long thats max untill i hit my sddr3 mem slots

Upgrade finished. Got me a 600 watt psu 12gb ram and a zodac gtx 680 4gb 2x pin 6 power. This gpu of 10 inches fits good and runs wel. Had to restart Windows 2 times.
