Can I upgrade the power supply on the Acer Aspire AT3-715A-UR11, so I can put a more powerful video card in it or does it have a proprietary connection from the PSU to the motherboard?

    Hi,
You can upgrade with the following PSU.
    Part number: DC.5001B.002
    Example:https://www.zandparts.com/en/Acer-DC.5001B.002

The Aspire T3-715A uses a standard ATX power supply, so you can use that have enough power. Depending on video card you might want 650W or higher so be sure to check specs before purchasing.

Hi. @brummyfan I don't need a 500W because my current PSU is 500 Watt already. I want one more powerful than that. Maybe a 850 at least or an 1000 Watt. @billsey ty for confirming that the stock motherboard uses a standard ATX PSU. I went to my local computer shop and I asked for a more powerful PSU, but they were like none of the ones we sale will fit into your case. So is there a 700, 800, 900, or 1000 watt PSU that will actually fit the stock case or will I have to remove the parts and put them into a larger case?

If I have to remove the parts from the stock case the computer shop said they could sell me a mobo that actually has the correct socket for the Core I7 6700 and a larger case that would hold a standard sized PSU.

I am a little leery of your shop... The PSU on a Aspire T3-715A is standard ATX with the very common 24 pin connector to the MB. Your MB already supports an i7-6700 CPU so there's not need to replace it, the socket is already correct.

No they weren't saying my current mobo doesn't support a standard ATX 24-pin PSU. They were saying my case is too small to hold any of the PSUs they sale. I noticed how small my case is. It's ridiculous! They put a new CPU cooler inside because the stock one was going out and with the new cooler the case fan on the left side wouldn't even fit because the cooler fan was obstructed. So they mounted the case fan on the outside.
