Hi I’ve recently bought this Predator Helios 300 laptop. It’s been one month or so. From last night suddenly the USB Ports on the left hand side of the laptop stopped working. The battery light wasn’t lit although it was charging. After sometimes it started working again than it stopped again. Took it to the store it worked in front of them, than when I brought it home again it stopped working after about half an hour or so. It looks like the problem happening on a random basis. Here is a video of it.I’ve updated windows and every drivers and also checked power management if it stops USB to save power. But everything looks fine. can anyone suggest any Solutions? Hi,
I suspect the cable, could you please try the cable on another laptop or PC, this happened to me and I bought a SATA to USB-c cable to fix the problem, there are two types of cables, one with two USB connectors(one for data and one for power) the one you have single USB connector which contains Power and data cables, I had a cable similar to yours and it failed on USB 3.0 ports.

Not a cable issue... As I said it’s happening randomly... check the video the left side is completely dead... even charger the light is not turned on

it is a cable between main board and a small extra board where those connectors are - 2 usb, network, sound, power leds

if nothing of the above connectors work - you can try either to reconnect them with two cables or maybe extra board is damaged itself then replace it

    Hi guys,
I was talking about the cable used to connect the external HDD to the USB port.
    For example, like this

Nahian931 reset your windows to stock clean install check here to rule out any software issues but backup whatever you need first and disable windows from updating any drivers/firmware or completely if the issue persists after i would point to hardware wise at this point contact acer support directly and send it back

I already tried resetting windows that did not work. The picture shows connections to a separate circuit board connecting to the motherboard I checked those connections I'm not seeing anything wrong. This problem started slowly first matmy  2 left USB ports started to work randomly now they don't work at all and neither does the little LED lights charging lights sleep lights are also not working.3.m audio jack works

I already returned it to Harvey Norman where I bought it from, they said they will send it to Accer for fixing. Don’t know how long it might take though.

I have already upgraded memory and installed a couple of ssd's. I think that would void  my warranty .

jj290 if you didnt breached any seal/stickers while disassembling it neither broke anything you can give it a shot just contact the support directly and ask about it if you had any seals that you have damaged yes your warranty its voided but you can still contact acer for a quote

Same problem here. Solved this way: Turn off. remove back cover. Unplug battery 30 secs. Reconnect. Done! left usb working again. Perhaps is the same letting it consume all the battery, could be  easier for less thechy guys.

Man, you are a lifesaver, I was panicking so hard. I had the exact problem left 2 USB stopped working and battery lights did not work either, I unplugged battery for 1 min and it started working again. I don't know what causes this weird problem but thank you very much

I couldn't believe this could possibly work, but it worked like a charm. Simply unplug the battery for a bit, plug it back in and Voila! the ports came back to life. Glad I found this post because otherwise I would have been scrambling to re-install windows, etc trying to chase this down.

    Thanks!
