What is the part number for the acer cooling fan, and how does one replace it?

    @ jmsb,

The fan part number depends on the laptop model. Most of the time you can find very cheap fans on eBay. Just search for it. For example, you have an Acer Aspire 5100. Search on eBay for "Acer Aspire 5100 fan". You don't need a part number for that.

Replaceing a failef fan is another story. In most cases there is no easy access to the fan, it's mounted inside the laptop. Sometimes you'll have to remove the motherboard in order to replace the fan.

Here's an example (picture taken from Acer Aspire 5741 laptop):

Unfrortunately, Acer doesn't have service manuals available to general publick.

Here are some Acer laptop disassembly instructions.

    Good luck!
