Why is Helios 300 (PH315-51) heating up lately?

I've repasted my laptop a few months ago with Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut and from then my laptop's temperature was really low. Even for light chrome use, the fans were off with temp 40C-50C. I've been updating my laptop every time when there's an update available. From the last 2 day's I've noticed the temperature increase to 60C-70C for similar use and the fan spinning for low load bothers me a lot. Can someone tell me what should be done to switch off fans on no load?  OS Build: 18363.693

All required files were downloaded earlier and then the Internet connection was disabled during the entire process. The issue was resolved yesterday when I found out the most powerful Display Drivers Uninstaller. I rebooted into safe mode, and using Display Drivers Uninstaller I removed the intel graphics drivers. Then I installed the latest Intel Graphics Drivers from the Intel website through local storage option in Device Manager. Later, I found that the igfxEM Module was using low CPU and causing less heat with 0 rpm fan speed on idle. Also, the animations in windows were flawless with best color reproduction. (I would recommend getting drivers from intel website instead of anywhere else if you're having issues with igfxEM Module producing heat or animation glitches)

well i had same issue with my same laptop as yours. it was heating up lately. after 1 year of use without any real load really.... What i did was used vacuum cleaner on high power and vacuumed all the fan vents from back and under the laptop. and now its working again as new. Try it

Do what the above poster says give it a thorough vacuum. If it persists Undervolt with a Throttlestop custom package designed by one of our resident gamers. They are safe and very easy to install, but if you have Intel XTU installed then delete it first.

I don't think it's a hardware issue, because it started appearing after the win update which was released last Sunday.

Vinayak096 downgrade/uninstall the update and welcome to windows 10 lol in which update you never know it it will make your machine better or completely worse (thats why i have them completely disabled since day 1 and still on 1809) and what you are experiencing its the wonderful work of the ms coders that added the nice feature to 1909 which parks all of your cores and only works with 2 when on low demanding works this causes the temps to go up because the cpu its constantly boosting to turbo speeds even on idle :)

Ps: i really dont recommend using a vacuum cleaner to clean the fans (unless you know exactly what youre doing and are careful enough) and even so they might get damaged by it in the process,  the best way its always disassemble it carefully and clean it properly (if possible without voiding the warranty) if not send it to acer to get cleaned/repasted

I can't roll back the update. There's only option to downgrade by USB-Boot drive, which I don't want to do. Is there any method to control fan speed?

P.S. I've taken out the whole heat sink, fans and then used the vacuum cleaner to clean. From then the laptop ran really low temp with 0 fan speed.

If its just debris build up in the fans and exit airflow yes but if its not only a repaste would fix thermal issues and yes all 2017/18 H300's under 40 degrees the fans will stop completely  :)

I just opened my laptop to clean but there was less dust with 0 blockages. Then too I gave a thorough clean up to my laptop. Later, when  I restarted the laptop, the issue persisted. I hope that this issue might be related to the software rather than hardware. If someone knows something, please let me know.

This igfxEM Module is causing an issue and It starts every time during startup. After force stopping that app, the fans were back to 0 rpm. I have no idea regarding this app, someone please guide me with this.

    Hi,
You could try the fix in this link:https://windowsreport.com/igfxem-exe-high-cpu/

@brummyfan2 I cannot find igfxEM in the services menu so I can only end task and cannot stop it permanently(It reappears after restart). Also, there's no malware/virus on the device.

    Hi,
If you haven't reinstalled the graphics driver, go to acer supprt site, download the driver for Intel VGA, then uninstall the driver in Device manager, don't reboot, install the downloaded driver.

This worked for a while. Later, the application started again after 4-5 boots. Isn't there any permanent fix?

open task manager and check for processes using more power. (Initially, total CPU usage must be under 10%)

hi bro, yes cpu is under 10 percent and and the only program that is eating a lot of power is chrome.
last week before i updated my windows 10, i can play Battlefield 4, total war with cpu temp around 60c-70c but now its terrible! i've reached 90+c. i dont know what went wrong. i tried uninstalling all the updates but the problem still exists.

before my idle temperature with google chrome is around 30-40c while plugged in. right now even without doing anything the cpu temp is around 50-60c jumping back and forth. this is making me crazy. this is the only thing i have while staying abroad.

Those temperatures are fine when you're playing for more than 30min. Additionally, you can disable all startup apps from the task manager if you want to. If this doesn't help you then try undervolting your CPU with IntelXTU (It is safe and won't harm your laptop).

and my cpu temp on minimal usage(chrome only) is jumping from 40-60c. i cant give the exact figure because the temp is changing every 2-3seconds. this is ***** me off. im pretty sure  that it's not a hardware problem. my helios 300 (2019) is clean and this haalppened after windows 10 update last week. i also check the core voltage offset and its still the default. also my room temparature is 19c with AC.
