Frequent instant shutdowns when video editing in Premier on Swift SF314-57
I'm going insane here. My two month old Swift seems to be shutting down due to overheating issues. After half an hour of fairly mediocre editing that is only using 50% of my processor and 8 of my 16GB of RAM (ie: just playing back from the timeline), my laptop just clicks off. I have to go through the whole boot up process again. I assume thermal throttling is happening at the same time because the processor clock speed is 1,300 and even drops as low as 1,150 when it I get this shutdown event (it's not boosting at this stage).
What's strange is that the Premier project has continued to run while it was shut down. Since I'm inevitably just playing from the timeline, it's still playing when I get up and running again. It's more like the screen just went to sleep, but I actually have to go through the complete boot-up process to get up and running again. (Is there such a thing as an emergency hibernation?)
My laptop is fully up to date with Windows and all drivers, but my BIOS is a bit old at V1.07
Is this just a BIOS issue that's not managing my laptop's thermals well which I can fix with an update, or something hardware related (like poor thermal paste) that needs me to claim against the warranty?
My full specs are:
Swift SF314-57
i7-1065G7 @ 1.30GHz
1TB SSD
16GB RAM
SNID: XXXXXXXX
Windows 10
Primary software that's probably running when I experience this problem:
Adobe creative cloud's applications (specifically Premier as this is the most demanding of my apps)
MS Office 365
Outlook
BitDefender
(BTW, I am a bit scared to do a BIOS update. I hear that it can brick your laptop if done wrong)
