Why have there been no driver updates for the Helios 500 in over a year? I was looking for a new touchpad driver, but the last one on Acer's site is from 5/2018... Am I missing something? No updates in over a year? I feel like I must be missing something?

    Hi,
I have driver from 2006 for my touchpad, you don't need to update the drivers often, if the system runs fine, I don't normally bothered to update my drivers.

Was hoping in would take care of the jumpiness with the trackpad, but I was just hoping. I don't think it will fix it, it is probably just how the trackpad is.

OK, in that case, please tell us the version of Synaptics/Elan driver in Device manager under Human Interface devices.
Go to Device manager, expand Human Interface devices, find out the version of the driver and the laptop full model name, like PH517-xx.

It is the last version that was posted on the Acer website, 19.0.25.9.

If you haven't tried changing the cursor speed, give it a try, also check whether the Touchpad is in Advanced mode in BIOS.

Here's my G3-572's Touchpad driver. Look. I had problems with my old driver as the advanced gestures never worked in that driver form May, 2016. After updating to new build and checking for updates in Device Manager, I got this and since then (1803), it has worked flawlessly in my current 1903 build. That may be the reason that you don't get any new driver update for it as it is stable for our machines. You can try updating through Device Manager, maybe it can find a new version for you.

Also, the driver gets automatically updated most of the time when you upgrade to new Windows 10 build.

I agree with you that it is absurd that Acer does not update drivers on their support website. I recently updated my Killer wireless adapter driver directly from Killer website, and the new driver is far better than the previous one installed on the system or the one that is available on the windows update website. See my post on this thread

@Razamax I updated manually all the networking drivers using their Hardware ID and all of them work perfectly now in 1903.

I am quite disapointed with Acer on this topic. They do not appear to continue to provide firmware/driver updates. Even if everything is ok from a bug/ performance perspective, there are always security flaws to address.
