Keep Acer OSD set to 144Hz all the time? when I rarely use 144 and mostly set it to 98 for desktop? Should I switch 144 off in OSD? Seems indifferent.

What's the difference:
1) OSD set to 144 + Windows set to 98
vs.
2) OSD set to  overclock off (120Hz) + Windows set to 98

There seems to be no difference since in both cases I run 98Hz from windows. The only difference is that OSD menu indicates 'overclock ON' option. Is this setting only formal in such case? Does it put extra strain on the screen and thermals? I don't see any difference in noise.

Znany problem.

Known issue. I had an interesting case with the same category of monitors when they showed less brightness on some pages, I do not know what the problem was. For example, I often play https://vulkanvegas.com/en/provider-play-n-go and there was such a problem.
