Does the SATA port that goes into the empty CD/DVD-ROM work at all on aspire V3-572G-76EM?

Hi every1,
I purchased a caddy and an ssd for my laptop. The ssd works when I connect via usb adapter but won't be recognized when inserted into by default empty DVD/CD rom SATA.
Any ideas?
Thank you in advance.

As far as I can tell each model has the ODD connector soldered on the motherboard, so though there are a lot of models and some have big differences in the motherboards, the connector should be there when you plug into it. Is there any chance the caddy isn't the right one? Look with a flash light to see if the connectors look like they match.

I guess checking wether ODD connector is in place can be done through checking out the underside of the mobo, cuz there is nothing on top of it.
    Will give it a try.
As to the caddy size I don't think that's the case cuz I bought the 1 that explicitly listed my model in its compatibility specs. Besides it fits tightly into the sata hub.

I'm not thinking of the caddy size, they pretty much all follow the guidelines for a slim drive. The connector though has changed over the years. Modern systems use a smaller SATA/power connector than the older ones did.
