Hello everyone.

I've had this laptop for a few years now and it's finally starting to show it's age. I'm just not ready to plop down another $600+ for not much of an improvement in terms of speed.

Currently, it's a 5750-6636. Has the i3-2310M and I upgraded the RAM to 8GB. Will be throwing in an extra SSD soon.

With that, I just placed an order for a 5750G motherboard (MB.RAZ02.004), the 5750G heat sink, and debating on which CPU I want.

So I'm trying to figure out what CPUs are currently supported for the 5750G BIOS. I can't find a list, but the manual does state it can take up to the i7-2820QM.

Is that the "best" the BIOS supports or can I use any other Sandy Bridge G2 socket CPU?

    Hi,
Yes, that's correct, i7-2820QM is the best supported by the motherboard, anything above it only an experimental upgrade, it may or may not work.

    Hi there,

I did indeed end up upgrading everything. Since the particular motherboard I used was capable, I didn't have any issues with the 2820qm. I left the BIOS it came with on.

Really my biggest issue was figuring out the plethora of motherboard choices and part numbers associated with them; there a lot to choose from for this particular model!

Other than that, no issues. My laptop is now a 5750G for all intents and purposes. Not a great laptop for gaming these days, but it's better than what I had and I now have a 4/8 CPU.
