I installed the new windows update on my spin 3. The machine will not boot.

It has never completed restart after the install. It goes into self repair diagnostic, tries a self repair, then gives up. Does anyone know how to fix? I uninstalled once. The same thing happened the 2and time.

Press and hold the power button for about 5 seconds or until the machine shuts off. Remove the charger. If a battery reset pinhole can be found upon the bottom or behind the screen, gently insert a paperclip for 10 seconds. Then plug the charger back in even if you can't find the pinhole. Then turn the machine back on and immediately press and hold the  ALT key while tapping the F10 key. A recovery screen should appear as in the video below. Choose the option to remove everything and reset the machine to factory fresh state. Jack E/NJ

Jack, thanks for the advice. I expect it will work. It is drastic.  I've read that I wont lose all of my data but I'm concerned by warnings to back up everything even though it is safe.
I'm going to uninstall the latest update , back up, then follow your advice.  Unless I can find something less time consuming. 🤔

How do you propose doing  the uninstall if it won't boot unless update gives you the option of reverting? If that's the case, then don't try to update right now. Wait for a future update that might resolve the issue Jack E/NJ

I haven't figured that out yet. I'm hoping to find a revert to known backup states option. I've had those on previous PCs.
I haven't found that option. I can get to the reset shown in your screen grab.

I found something on a screen prior to the reset screen. It looks similar. Advanced settings.  That leads me to an Uninstall Updates button. The next screen offers uninstall of Quality Updates or Feature Updates.  I tried Quality 1st. It would not allow that due to pending update . I pressed Features Update. It says it is restoring previous version of windows. I expect it to take a while.
    I'll post about results.
