need help with splitting the hard drive

Hi..........

i have acer aspire v3 771g with 1 tb hard drive

the c/ drive have 911GB and it has 870 gb free

i want to split it to c: 161 GB and D: 750 GB

in the disk management when i try to shrink the c: he gave me only 450 GB to shrink to it

 

what is the correct way to do it ??

    another thing how i know my windows 8 serial ??

     

    and if i do factory restore  Does it ask to enter the serial number ??

    I'm unable to offer support for changing partition sizes.  It seems that you are using the correct tool.

     

    For Windows 8, the product key is embedded in the BIOS and is not retrievable.

     

    When you do a factory restore, it will not ask for a product key.

    Is there a way to save the back up from my usb in the hard drive

    And return it when I need to use it

    The recovery partition should still be there, unless you removed it.  

    Keep the USB drive in a safe place for when you need it.
