Hello all,

I can't seem to figure out how to get my Aspire A17 to boot to my secondary HHD.  I purchased and installed a 1TB SSD (computer already had a 1TB spinny HDD).

I have successfully cloned the harddrive using some hdd cloning software which seemed to work fine.  Windows recognizes the drive as E: and you can access/copy/write to it.

However when I enter the BIOS to change the boot order,  the BIOS under BOOT doesn't see the new SSD as an option.

Can someone help me out and steer me in the right direction to start using this SSD for the OS?

Thank you!

    Hi,
Could you please post the full model name of the laptop, what is the other drive you have in the laptop?

    Full model: Aspire A517-51G-522W
Factory HDD: WDC WD10SPZX-21Z10T0 (spinny disk that came with the computer, listed in BIOS as HDD0)
Second HDD: WDC WDS100T2BOB-00YS70 (User installed a month ago, SSD drive, listed in BIOS as HDD1)

I cloned the Factory HDD to the new SSD drive.  So now I have two hard-drives, with identical contents.

Now how do I make the computer boot to the copied OS on the new SSD drive?  in the BIOS under "Boot", you only see the first HDD0.  I expect to see another bootable drive there to select.

    Thanks.

OK,  So I've discovered Windows Boot Manager.  However when I go into it I don't have the option of "Choose another operating system"....  ARRRGGGHHHH.

Maybe I have to follow these steps: https://www.tenforums.com/backup-restore/90742-how-make-cloned-drive-bootable.html

Result: Failure when attempting to copy boot files.
