Acer Predator G9-792-790G - Which BIOS Do I Need?

I have an Acer Predator G9-792-790G which was bought in 2017 but which I only set up last week.

I have noticed that the screen occasionally goes black while I'm using it - only for two or three seconds - and then the display comes back.

This has not (yet) happened when powering up or resuming from sleep / hibernation mode, and the display has (so far) always resumed after a short interruption, as others have reported.

Based on other posts I've seen here, I'm assuming I need to update the BIOS.

I checked in the System Information and it seems my laptop is running this version of the BIOS currently:

Acer V1.05, 3/1/2016

When I go to the ACER support page for my laptop, I see there are four BIOS downloads available:

Any thoughts on which one should I use?

Also, once I download the correct file, I assume I need to close down all other apps / software, double-click the .exe file, and then follow any instructions?

Thanks!

update your BIOS ver to 1.07. As per the description it would fix abnormal display issues.

Note: Make sure while updating the BIOS plug the power cable and close any background apps. Also, do not interrupt while BIOS update. Your device would automatically restart and that's completely normal.

    Thanks for that.

Is there any reason why you think I shouldn't use v1.08, as recommended by andylb?

Please use the correct version for your model v 1.08  which addresses everything else plus the  security issues which are VITAL, continuing without v1.08 puts your computer at risk, BIOS updates are only published for essential rather than optional anomalies. I am not infallible but simple issues as to the correct BIOS update are a given. The download will be a Zip file, extract it to a new desktop folder and run the .exe
It is also a good idea to check that your Nvidia drivers are up to date through your Geforce Experience app

    Thanks!

I've updated both the BIOS and the GeForce drivers, and now I wait to see if the problem is fixed.

I was also finding that it blanked when using Faceook in Chrome, especially when it was trying to display some GIFs, so maybe that will be fixed too?

Well, it's been well over a week now since I updated the BIOS and video drivers, but I'm still getting the occasional blanking screen.

It's still happening in Chrome when I'm on Facebook - I think it's certain types of animated GIF that trigger the problem. Some GIFs display and play fine, some display the still image OK but won't play, and some simply display a black or green rectangle instead of the GIF.

Other than that, it only seems to happen very occasionally when I use TED Notepad, which is my current preferred replacement for the Windows Notepad app, so I'm wondering whether the problem is caused by that software specifically.

It's worth uninstalling the TED notepad and seeing if the problem persists
