TC-885 - Problem with Insignia speakers & Logitech wireless keyboard

I have a new TC-885 with Windows 10. The PC doesn't recognize my Insignia speakers -- green plug is inserted in green hole in the back. It also won't find a Logitech Unifying receiver. The speakers worked fine on an old PC, and the receiver works fine on an old Toshiba netbook. How do I fix these problems?

First step for the speakers, with them plugged in right click on the little volume icon at lower right and choose sound settings from the menu. Are the speakers listed as an output device? It may be as simple as just telling the system to actually use them. :)
With the mouse receiver, have you tried it in different USB ports? It might be old enough to get confused with the 3.0 (blue) or 3.1 (orange) ports. Check the back of the computer to see if a couple of the ports are the older style black 2.0 ports. If so try it there.

My bad on the speakers. A flashlight showed the colors better -- they were plugged into the wrong port.
I have tried the receiver on 5 ports. The one in front is orange, and 4 in back that are black. An old Seagate drive and an old Epson scanner work on 2 black ports and a relatively new UPS on a 3rd. The logitech software can't find it on any of them. I note that the receiver is orange, while the other cable ends are white.
    Thank you for your help.

I found an article about the receiver not being recognized and some steps to look at the device manager.

The device manager sees it at as a USB Receiver with HID-compliant consumer control device, HID (ditto) mouse and 2 more devices, USB Composite Device and 2 USB Input Devices. The unifying software doesn't see it. It works just fine on an old Toshiba notebook. I'd still like to solve this.

It might be worthwhile to contact Logitech to see if they have any ideas. If the devices are showing up in Device Manager without errors their software should see them as well.

Thank you. I have contacted Logitech -- their support appears to have been slammed, and they're slow to respond via email. A magnifying glass let me know that what I have is a Nano receiver. I found a YouTube video that led me to Logitech Connection Utility. The utility says that my new mouse and keyboard are incompatible with the receiver. The receiver seems to be a non-unifying one. So, time to buy a Unifying USB receiver -- about $12.

Again, thank you for your help.

When you bought the mouse and keyboard they should have come with a compatible receiver. Often these days the receiver is shipped inside the mouse...

Hmmm. Same problem. Maybe it's not a unifying receiver?

Wow! The software doesn't see it, but both keyboard and mouse work with it.
Very strange. Thanks again for the help.

Sweet! Yes, the receiver should just look like a keyboard and mouse connected to a USB port, so no special drivers needed.
