I'm currently experiencing FPS drop on my games, reaching unplayable levels below 10. Usually, when I start to run a game in steam, the fans of my laptop will immediately turn on, but now, it doesn't. However, I can see that the NVIDIA GTX 1060 is still being detected by my laptop as shown in the Device Manager. I have installed the latest driver for NVIDIA and Intel UHD as well.

I have installed Bit Defender antivirus software a few months back but cant remember if it had an immediate effect I did some optimization with that app as well I have uninstalled it now but the problem still persists.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Have you set up the Nvidia Control Center correctly? Please follow all my instructions below

Please click YES if I answer your question, thankyou

Make sure you do this below and always game on 100% battery BEFORE gaming and KEEP plugged in while gaming, in your Windows Power plan select High Performance when on AC and in Nitrosense make sure High performance is selected under "AC" tab

    1. Download and install the latest Nvidia Drivers

    2. Go to the Nvidia control center and click Manage 3d settings tab, then click the Global Settings tab and change Preferred Graphics processor from Auto select to your Nvidia GPU, do this by clicking the downward arrow to the right of Auto Select and select the Nvidia GPU. Then under the Program Settings tab select the programs and games that you want to run on the Nvidia GPU. Do the same under the Set PhysX Configuration tab

Please click YES if I answered your question

I am not an ACER employee
Thank you and have a blessed day  B)

Uninstall the nvidia drivers then restart and reinstall. It's cause by updating drives though Nvidia experience. Anti virus doesn't do anything but eat system resources

Oyos  make sure you setup all games individually manually via nvcp some cases just setting it up for high performance wont stick in some games also i dont agree with the answer given above about uninstalling GE you should keep it (just disable the update drivers option) but what you should do its not use the latest driver always use a driver from 3/6 months old or so and when you install it make sure to select advanced/customise and tick clean install everytime to completely remove the older driver and i agree that the antivirus has nothing to do with anything see below then choose with with gpu you wnat the app/game to run and apply repeat the process for other apps/games usually i only have game launchers and games running on the DGPU all other software/apps are all setup on the IGPU even windows software that tends to be stubborn to run on the DGPU
