    Good evening FCORRALESD !

What EXACT model of your laptop?
USB-Type C Gen1 connectors do not send video information.
    Gen2 only with Thunderbolt support.

*If* you're using an (active?) adapter, then yes; but certainly not directly via a regular USB-C cable. Just like @MaClane said video output through USB-C requires the port to not only to implement USB 3.1, but also at least the DisplayPort alternate mode or any Thunderbolt 3 or later protocol as well as USB (which I don't think is the case if the laptop you have is the one you mentioned in your other post).

Still, there are several pure USB to HDMI adapters in the market of various capabilities and many even have a type C connection for the computer end. For example, DisplayLink's DL-6950 seems to be a beast of a chipset capable of outputting 2 4K60Hz signals over HDMI 2.0 (or DP 1.2) and a GbE signal too, and there are a couple of manufacturers using it at the heart of their adapters.

The one I mentioned is kind of an overkill (and rather expensive probably) for what you need to look for, but I'm sure it gives you an idea ;)

    Hi guys,

I have the same problem. I wanted to connect a second monitor via USB C 3.1 - HDMI converter.
It worked perfectly with a Dell Notebook. Also I tested it with different monitors - same result!
    Using directly HDMI Port worked!

The converter has additional UDSB ports. That worked. Only the grafical Interface HDMI and VGA are not working!

When I connect the converter, monitor don't get a signal. First idea to have more electric power (added via USB) did not work.
Normally a specific driver is not needed, so I assume a firmware update of the BIOS is needed, right?
