Acer Aspire3 A517-51G - Touchpad isn't detected
Tinkerer
The touchpad on this laptop isn't detected. I've updated all the possible drivers. All I can do is use an usb mouse. Laptop is 1 week old.
Laptop is an Acer Aspire3 A517-51G, running Win10 Home.
I've included a picture of the device manager, with the relevant items (HID and Mouse/pointing). All the "disabled" elements are related to the USB mouse and get enabled as soon as I plug the USB FOB (it's actually a wireless USB mouse, so that's why it also adds a "keyboard"). There's nowhere to see a touchpad or another mouse, so I can't update drivers or anything. Both Elan and Synaptics drivers are installed anyway.

I tried the multumedia key to enable/disable the touchpad (F7) and it doesn't do anything (all the other keys function normally). A lot of solutions to enable the mouse says that I should go to the BIOS and switch the touchpad setting from Basic to advanced, but I don't even have that option in the BIOS. I've included a picture to show what I got, and it's not much (sorry for potato quality of image, I had to take a picture with my phone). BIOS has been updated to latest version (1.08).

Hi @Vince11
Go to Acer support site, download Serial IO driver and install and see whether it helps.

This was covered on the 'Acer Community' before in Dec 2019 for the Acer Aspire A515-54G, try to download this drivers: https://global-download.acer.com/GDFiles/Driver/IO Drivers/IO Drivers_Intel_30.100.1915.1_W10x64_A.zip?acerid=637043008328997984&Step1=NOTEBOOK&Step2=ASPIRE&Step3=ASPIRE A515-54G&OS=ALL&LC=pt&BC=ACER&SC=PA_3 and see if that works for the Aspire A517-51G?
Also, update your BIOS to the latest 2019/09/18 v2.03 '1.Update ME-FW 11.8.65.3590. 2.Update MCU' as there is no such thing as a BIOS v1.08, the versions start at v1.09, where did you get v1,08 for your Aspire A517-51G?

I'm sorry, it seems I made a mistake in my original post. My laptop is an A317-51G, and not an A517-51G. Also seems like I can't edit my OP
